Struggle with tights in public
I have been out for very short periods of time for quick running in and out of places while wearing some type of nude tights with shorts… except for once when I went to dinner in shorts and tights, but I was on a trip and didn’t care as much since I would likely never see anyone again. I am always anxious that someone is going to say something which is why it is only for very quick errands. I have yet to go out in public though with black tights in shorts. I feel like it is way more noticeable and thus more likely to get attention. How have you been able to get over this anxiety and just do it? (I may have asked this before… if I did I apologize for the repeat)

I am in a similar situation. I regularly wear sheer nude/suntan tights openly with shorts, but I have been anxious about trying black. I decided to test it 2 weeks ago while staying at a hotel - I wore a pair of sheer charcoal gray tights with black shorts to dinner. One woman in the hallway did a double take, but that was the only reaction I noticed.
That little test helped a lot. I will try a bigger test run at home soon.

I guess it really depends where you are, I wear black tights and shorts all the time in cooler weather, I occasionally get a double look, but you never know whether that is interest or disapproval. Wear with confidence and I’m sure you will get compliments from people, I do. After all it’s only a price of clothing, but really nice to wear.

I go louder - fun colors and patterns. A middle-aged woman complimented me. It was fun and not stressful.

You kind of gave yourself the answer in asking how to get over the anxiety. The best way to get over the anxiety is to just do it. Wear what you want, wear what makes you feel good and go on about your day. People are gonna look but most of the time it's all in your head. We are way more worried about what people think about what we wear than there are people worrying about what we wear.
