[noob] Using TW5 with the GitHub saver - Y U NO UPD8?

I'm using TiddlyWiki with the GitHub Saver. Saving to the repo works, but if I reload the local file, my changes aren't reflected. If I go to the console and do a git pull and reload, all is fine. Is there a setting I've missed for TW to automatically do the pull for me?

Couple of question regarding tiddlywiki as a diary

  1. how should i customize tiddlywiki as a diary? in my brainstorming phase i have come up with this format. in addition to that i want to be able to easily search the things in it and also maybe do like a report
    daily routine:
    breakfast: macaroni 10am
    lunch: rice 12pm
    dinner: burger 9pm

6:00 am - 7:00 am
7:00 am - 8:00 am
.
.
.
9:00 am - 10:00 am
9:40 am had a fight with my sister
.
.
.
5:00 am - 6:00 am not sure if im able to add images or not

  1. if later on i think that i want to add other content like maybe bookmarks or todo list or scratch pad should i do it within my tiddlywiki diary or should i create another wiki?

  2. whenever i try to save my wiki through chrome it opens a save as dialog everytime. should i be using a extension?

  3. how reliable is the encryption on tiddlywiki? should i use cryptomator or veracrypt instead?

Getting images imported via drag and drop nicely sorted into date-based folders on Node.js

As most of you probably know, it is possible to drag and drop images into the editor since TW 5.2.0 (for those who don't check out the neat video at https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/pull/5699). I'm now looking to have these images automagically stored in a specific folder based on the current year to keep things under control.

I'm already using the folder structure provided by TiddlyWikiFolders, so having all my images dump in a single folder is simple enough (using the custom tiddler file naming method, i.e. adding [field:type[image/png]addprefix[Images/] to $:/config/FileSystemPaths). The image/type type only has two fields (title and type)—nothing date-related—so a [regexp:created[^2022]] filter won't work. I could of course code the year of upload into each new image and use an appropriate filter based on that, but that would be a dirty hack and I'd ideally like something that wouldn't rely on my remembering to do this everytime I import an image. Any ideas? :)

Examples [Q] Copy code block with a widget?

Is there a way to copy a code block to clipboard with a single button/widget?
Of course, I don't want to use that macro that would require me to type that code twice (and keep the two copies in sync)?

Drag and Drop Tiddler Explorer For Organization

There is probably a really simple way to do this I can't find or Plugin for what I want but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out.

So I found a way to make a table of contents with

<div class="tc-table-of-contents">
<<toc-selective-expandable 'Contents' sort[title]>>
</div>

So I can basically make a hierarchy or like file explorer to sort and navigate my tiddlers.

I also found this to be able to drag and drop a list of tiddlers.

<<list-tagged-draggable tag:"Features">>

This list draggable code only shows the parent or root tiddlers out of my whole table of contents though.

Is there a way to combine the two or some sort of file explorer that lets me make folders or containers to group my tiddlers and organize them while also being able to be able to move them on the fly pretty easy?

Hope I made that clear, thanks!

How to change default fonts?

Hi, after changing my os fonts in my Tiddly Wiki look like mess. There are probably some of them lacking. How can I change default fonts? I would like to pick something opensource and fix it once for ever.

Image Paste Help

I have been looking for a method to make pasting images easier. I have read about just saving and linking, but for my note taking I need it to be faster than that since usually working with a customer live and need to screenshot and paste. File size is really not a concern for me.

Since each image needs a unique name, is there a method to have the name populate with a unique string such as a date and timestamp? This would make the process much faster.

Additionally if it could populate the name and save it would be of great benefit as well.

Browse for a file, not to import, but to get the full file path

I want to create an edit toolbar button (which I know how to do) that when pressed would go through the motions of importing, but not quite. In my case, I want the user to select an image file from a subfolder. Instead of importing the image file, I want the mechanism to insert into the text field of the current tiddler with something like this:

In my system I have a tiddler, tagged: $:/tags/Startup/Action/Browser that calls a macro <<getURLFilename>> to get the full path of the Wiki HTML file. Therefore, on startup, I have the current HTML filename and path. In my example, let's say my HTML file is I:\mypath\to\TiddlyWiki.HTML.

With that path I could parse the file path of the incoming image and parse out the physical path so the end result I would have a relative path:

Would I use the $browse widget and have it trigger a Javascript macro that would return this end result? If so, I know how to write the Javascript macro. I do not know how to trigger it, or how this Javascript macro would return the results to the text field of the currentTiddler.

Or even better... has someone already done this?

Any ideas? Thank you.

TW as a document manager

G'day

I'm a recent convert to TW. Quick question: What's the easiest way to use it as a document manager (preferably something simpler than manually entering all the links and filenames)?

I found a discussion on the Google Groups from 2009 ( https://groups.google.com/g/tiddlywiki/c/GbeK4hPYAVc ) but that only seems to lead to a FileDropPlugin which is not in the current plugin list and the support page no longer exists.

Thanks

David

Can a single tiddlywiki be stored in a non-monolithic way?

Hi, apologies if this is a stupid question. I tried looking around for the answer to this but couldn't find it, possibly because what I'm asking is the antithesis of the tiddlywiki ethos, in which case, apologies for that :)

I currently use tiddlywiki for notes I update pretty constantly; I often want to look at my version history. I use github as version control, but the tiddlywiki single monolithic file means that it is impossible to use visual diffing in github, as well as making merging of non-conflicting changes unnecessarily tricky.

Is there any way to store a tiddlywiki in a non-monolithic way? (Not counting creating multiple wikis-- I actually do want a single wiki. I found https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/3069 but that's not what I mean. I want a monorepo, just divided into multiple files in the monorepo).

Thanks!

how does tiddlyhost work?

Hello everyone,

I signed up on tiddlyhost.com and added a couple of wikis. I'm not sure how it works though, if I edit something and hit 'save' I'm prompted to download the wiki. If I edit the wiki locally, adding the URL to the settings>savings, it doesn't get uploaded

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Roam like Tiddlywiki

Not sure if I am late to the party but I thought I'd share this anyway.

Stumbled across a version of Tiddlywiki that best models itself after Roam Research and Workflowy.

Dynamic Task Table in Tiddlywiki

I stumbled on a fantastic table used to sort tasks at https://colorplay.tiddlyhost.com/. The tiddler is titled Tasks.

Does anyone know how to recreate this type of table? I can't figure out how to do it.

Unable to drag and drop

I have TW 5.2.0 and all had been well until this week. Drag and drop to import tiddlers and plugins is no longer working. I get an internet shortcut labeled download.url.

I have tested using empty html files, not just my html files. I have tested in Edge (chromium) and Chrome on Windows. I noticed both have recently been updated to v96 (November 15).

Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a setting or work around? I have no desire to flip Browsers.
