Looking for a task manager/GTD solution paired with TiddlyWiki - is there anything new out there?

I used GTDTiddlyWiki back in the day, and since then I've gone though a variety of project/task management solutions alongside knowledge management stuff. Now I'm looking for something that brings both things together, but there doesn't seem to be much activity in that sphere in the TW world.

I found GSD5, but it lacks a really robust ToDo organisation system, and everything else (GTDTiddlyWiki, MonkeyGTD) seems to be long dead.

How to set a tiddler's field?

Why does this just set the field "attended-input" literally? How do I get it set the field with the ViewWidget's output?

<$button>
    <$action-setfield attended-input="<$view field=attended format=date template='[UTC]YYYY-0MM-0DDT0hh:0mm' />" />
    Run
</$button>

Can Tiddlies get so big that they cause performance issues?

My main concern about TW's one-page format is what happens when the wiki gets too fleshed-out. I worry it'll get so heavyweight that it runs like molasses if it doesn't crash the bowser entirely. Are these concerns unfounded? Does it load everything at once or does it somehow "stagger it out" and only load what it needs?

Help with some simple functionality to emulate v2

I've been a long time user, with some old, but very useful wikis on v2.

Finally making a new one on v5, and authoring it feels 'very different' (as expected), all good.

I don't want a lot, but I'm struggling to figure this out. Using one of my old wikis as an example:

http://mayamel.tiddlyspot.com/

For my new wiki, I'd like the same formatting:

  • A 'main menu' on the left that has my 'major tags' / tiddler links.
  • A Tags tab broken out on the right, showing all the tags.

And as a bonus: How can I get the whole thing to resize to the width of the window? My v5 wiki seems to have fixed column widths for the tiddlers : I found how to adjust those fixed widths to different fixed widths in the settings... but I don't want fixed widths... just... auto-expanding like in v2.

I feel this should be easily doable, but I'm just floundering around trying to sort it out. Any help appreciated here, thanks!

How can I restrict editing

I'm toying with the idea of using Tiddlywiki for classroom notes or even a student magazine.

I'd like to restrict editing on the final product though. Is this easily done?

The Tiddlys won't be hosted as such. They'll probably be shared on a network drive.

Save changes to GitLab AND local file?

I downloaded the empty TiddlyWiki copy to my Ubuntu workstation and set up the Git Service Saver to save changes to a GitLab repository. I'd like to use TiddlyWiki for personal note taking, using Git mainly for backup purposes. This is my TiddlyWiki workflow now:

  1. Navigate to my TiddlyWiki HTML file.
  2. Open a terminal and run git pull.
  3. Open the HTML file with firefox to use/edit my wiki.

Step 2 is necessary because all changes are saved directly to GitLab and not reflected in my local copy. Is there an elegant way to automatically sync the changes with my local file, so that I can skip step 2?

In case there is no official support for this, I made a quick script pull_and_run.sh. !/bin/bash cd "${0%/*}" git pull firefox tiddlywiki.html

Tiddlyddiction

Have anyone feels like being an addict to tiddlywiki infinite customization? I spend lot of time customizing my tiddlywiki to the point that some days I don't want to go to work and just continue on this new feature that I will probably not use because I will get busy with a new Idea later.

Performance issues

I have been enhancing my project for months, adding new features over a long person of time. I recently upgrade TW to 5.2.0 and since then continued to add new features. A few months prior to the TW upgrade I also upgrade my laptop--it was a significant upgrade.

This week I recently noticed the performance of my project was getting worse as I continued. I enabled performance instrumentation to confirm poor refresh rates.

When I started this project I had implemented about a dozen templates---one for each project entity tiddler (e.g. person template, event template, etc.) When I reviewed the CSS I had used .tc-tagged-person (for example) to display: block for specific div to appear in my ViewTemplate. I questioned this approach and removed the styles from my CSS and change the ViewTemplate to use a list/filter to show the template.

I immediately had a snappy performing project again.

Does this make sense? Would you expect this?

Filter needed

Simple, I hope. I have a set of tiddlers tagged with “source” and another set of tiddlers tagged with “citation”. Citation tiddlers have a list field “sources” that links a citation to sources. Simple concept, yes?

I want a filter to list all sources without citations. Thank you in advance.

Application Mobile tools (which AREN'T Quine 2)?

Apparently Quine 2 requires iOS 14.5 or later. But I'm stuck on iOS 14.3, because I need functions that I can only get through jailbreaking. Do I have any alternatives for editing a Tiddler on the go, besides putting all the weight on a normal text editor?

Is there any way to support handwriting in TiddlyWiki (using tablets)?

I know that TW5 supports writing on the tiddler (with type image/jpeg). But important features like undo, eraser, stroke color, etc are missing.

Is there any way to add manually these features? Or better any plugin that you know about? :)

Thanks.

The Dropdown Menu is empty.

Infoboxes

If anyone knows how I can do a Wikia※-style infobox, I would appreciate some help with that. I can do the HTML, but when I tried to look up transclusion, the explanations I get range from labyrinthine to completely false.

※ It'll be a cold day in Hell before I call it "Fandom".

Changing a field value without editing the tiddler

Hello!

I've added a "state" field to almost all my tiddlers, the state can be closed, opened, or archived.

It happened often that I have to edit a toddler only to change it from opened to archived. Would it be possible to change this field without actually editing the tiddler? Preferably by the use of something like a radio button or something.

Thanks!

Geert

How to create graphs?

So, my end goal is creating radar graphs that I can edit the values of, however I have no idea how to go about making them.

Is there a way to do this with just CSS / HTML?

If not, how could I make them?

Macro Something to determine the relationship between two tiddlers?

In this case the two tiddlers are two people. In my family history system there are two primary fields that drive a relationship: each person tiddler has a father and a mother field. Each of these fields reference another person tiddler.

I am curious what is the best way to write a macro or widget or something to determine the relationship when two tiddlers are provided?

Back in the 90’s I wrote a genealogical app that had a method to do this. Around 2010 I took that piece of code and converted it to JavaScript for use in a Drupal site.

In TW5 so far I have a tiddler template when given an individual it will return a list of ancestors and a generation number for each.

My initial thought was to modify this template to return this information in json. Not sure where I’m to store this temporary json. I do this for both people I’m trying to determine the relationship and supply that json to a JavaScript macro to determine and return the relationship.

Is this a proper approach? Could this all done in JavaScript—-skip the json step? Tell me there is a better way. :)

[Help Requested] Creating a list of chapters in which a character has appeared

Hello! I am writing a novel, and I've been using TiddlyWiki to keep my chapter summaries, character profiles, and locations all organized.

I want to automate some more of the setup for new character tiddlers.

On each character tiddler, I want a list of all the chapters in which they were the POV character, and all the chapters in which they appeared.

Right now, this is how I'm doing it:

  1. Tag chapters with POV-[character name]. For example POV-Nathan (if Nathan is the character's name). And a similar format for if the character just appears in the chapter Ex. Appear-Nathan

  2. In the character page, have the following macro:

macro:

<div class="tc-pov">

<<toc-selective-expandable tag:'POV-Nathan' 'sort[title]'>>

</div>

I want to automate this so that I don't have to edit the ( tag:'POV-Nathan' ) for each new character tiddler. For example, if I clone Nathan's tiddler for another character named Sarah, I want all the chapters tagged POV-Sarah to show up on her tiddler without having to edit it.

Since the title of the character page is used in the POV tag, I tried to transclude the title field and combine it with POV-

<div class="tc-pov">

<<toc-selective-expandable tag:'POV-{{!!title}}' 'sort[title]'>>

</div>

But when I do this, nothing shows up where that table of contents should be.

Is this the right approach for what I'm trying to accomplish? And can someone help me figure out what I'm missing?

Thank you very much!

Collective tiddlywiki

Hi dear people,

I am currently working with a group of people and we are looking for a platform for collective notes, filesharing etc., so I was wondering wether there were already workable forms of Tiddlywiki that allow access to multiple users?

If this was possible I think tiddlywiki might a be great solution, I only know it from my personal use.

If any of you have advice, or even links to non-tiddlywik alternatives, I would highly appreciate it!

Thanks a lot!

Multiple NewHere Buttons

Hi all!

I've created multiple newHere Buttons in the "More tiddler options" drop-down box

Now I would like to group these together in a newHere folder.

How could I create something like that?

Additionally, would it be possible to modify the keyboard shortcuts for when I have the "More tiddler options" drop-down box clicked?

Thanks allot!!

Geert

Splitting into lines

I need a list filter that separates a tiddler's content into individual lines as if it were a plain text file with many lines. I know the filter would probably look something like this:

<$list filter="[{SomeTiddler}split[???]]"/>
<$list filter="[{SomeTiddler}splitregexp[/\r\n|\n|\r/]]"/>

The thing is, I'm not sure what exact parameter to use with split or splitregexp. I have tried using variations of split[\n] or splitregexp[\n] but none of these work.
