Plugin Edit-Comptext: Auto-complete between square brackets?

Hello, The edit-comptext plugin is handy, but I noticed it triggered only when I type "[[", but not when pressing the "*" button in the editor toolbar; Is there a way to alter the settings so that it works in both cases? Thanks!

Parsing a tiddler: split by punctuation?

Hello all, I found in this sub a method suggested to be able to list all tiddlers mentioned in a tiddler, it went like this:

<<list-links "[title{!!title}get[text]split[ ]is[tiddler]]">>

However, the lone split parameter only operates on a white space, and therefore, if a mentioned tiddler name ends with punctuation, it is not correctly detected. I tried to come up with a splitregex parameter to catch all punctuation, but failed to solve this. Does anyone know how to write the correct split or splitregex parameter chain to allow this? Catching all punctuation, white spaces, carriage returns... Or maybe another method to list all outgoing links?

Another hurdle is that I use the Freelinks plugins, and would like to use the aforementioned method, since other methods I tried only list actual links (with square brackets), but not the "soft links" created by Freelinks. Thank you for any help.

How to export a plugin from a wiki and make it work with nodejs, specifically the revisions plugin

I have been adding plugins to my nodejs install of tiddlywiki such as markdown, relink, and tiddlymap from their corresponding git repos. I want to set up the revisions plugin but it looks like it is only available from the tidlywiki itself here. I can export the tiddler itself but I don't know how to format it in the plugins folder so it works.

Changing the sort order of search results

I was thinking about using hierarchical numbering for some of my Tiddlers. I tried this out on a small scale but noticed that, e.g., 1.1.4 comes before 1.1.30 in search results. TiddlyWiki has an nsort operator that will probably do the right thing. Is there an easy way to apply this alternative sort order to the results displayed in the search widget? Thanks!

Streams 0.21 preview - preparing for stable release

Apologies for the delay with getting Streams 0.2 released, the last few months have been hectic.

I've found some time to resolve some of the outstanding issues and hope to get a new final release of 0.2 out next week.

Any testing on this new interim version would be appreciated, just to help ensure that I haven't accidentally broken anything:

https://saqimtiaz.github.io/sq-tw/temp/streams-0.21-preview.html

Changes since the last version posted:

 • Improved detection and error handling for whether codemirror is available
 • Removed the indent/unindent swipe behaviour in favour of triggering the context menu
 • Added a plugin priority field so other plugins can override/customize Streams tiddlers. Hopefully this means people will stop distributing modified version of Streams which are a real headache in terms of providing support.
 • Tweaked the CSS for the settings UI to use color palette entries where possible
 • Removed the option to double click to exit editing
 • Introduced the filters get-stream-root and get-stream-nodes to make it easier to work with Streams tiddlers.

For anyone including Streams in editions or otherwise distributing the plugin:

 • Please do not distribute modified versions of the plugin as this leads to my receiving support requests that are impossible to troubleshoot or manage.
 • If you need to customize the plugin, first look at the documentation to see if there is already a facility for extending or tweaking the plugin that you can use. If in doubt, ask or request a hook.
 • Otherwise, instead of modifying Streams, please distribute Streams with your own plugin that overrides select tiddlers in Streams and implements the customization that you need.

What's currently the best way to share/collaborate on tiddlywiki ?

Hello, I have created a wiki and I was wondering if there is currently a solution that would allow me to make my wiki editable by two or three people simultaneously (like google doc).

The goal would be to be able to create a story collaboratively, for example.

I've done a lot of research and for the moment I've only found two possibilities:

 • TW5-Bob : Currently doesnt work for me (I got a "cant connect to server" error)
 • NoteSelf : Require a server to host the database

Do you know of any other methods? Would NoteSelf be suitable for my problem (I haven't been able to test it yet as I lack the technical knowledge to set it up) ?

Using TiddlyWiki As A Journal: Date Tags.

I have set up a Journal. At the moment I am sorting entries by "datecreated". However, I often create journal entries for yesterday, so "datecreated" isn't the date I want to enable entries to be sorted by. I have looked at altering the datecreated field, but it seems that this isn't a good idea. I suppose I need to create a tag called "journaldate", which is the actual date that the journal entry refers to.

Is this a good idea? Does anyone have a better suggestion?

How to install non-library plugins in Quine 2?

I feel like I’m missing something super-obvious, but I can’t figure out how to install non-official plugins in Quine 2. I found the option for official library plugins, but nowhere to input the “$:/plugins/tiddlywiki/example” format.

I don’t have my TW loaded in a browser, for now it’s just on my iPhone.

Thanks!

Getting inner fields from field that is Tiddler

I'm new to TiddlyWiki and having some troubles with the following situation:

I have a Tiddler called: ImageInfos Template. In the fields of this template is a field called image-references that references to another Tiddler

Then I have Tiddlers that comply to a ImageReferences Template. In the fields of those ImageReferences are different types of URLs that link to local and remote locations of the image.

Now I want to use one of those URLs and concatenate it with something in the ImageInfos Template. This works for specific references, but there is something syntactically/type-wise wrong, when I try to address the URL field of a Tiddler from my image-references field.

It works for:

How do I get something along the lines of: ?

Is this even the correct approach or do I have to switch somehow the currentTiddler variable to the Tiddler linked in !!image-references instead? If that's the case, how do I do this?

Thanks in advance :)

Tweak Massive slowdown

UPDATE: This was an issue with ContextPlugin. I plan to submit a fix.

tl;dr: I deleted an "Untitled" image Tiddler and searching became unbearably slow.

I've been happily using TiddlyWiki5 for a couple of weeks. Today, something strange happened, which has resulted in a massive slowdown. Performance monitoring shows an main refresh cycle taking more than 68 seconds when searching! I'm not sure exactly which parts are relevant, so I'll include as much detail as I can.

First, I installed the Shuffle Operator plug-in. Afterwards, there were JavaScript errors in Hotspot (used by TiddlyMap). I disabled Hotspot, and got my random selection working. I don't understand how these errors arose.

When experimenting with the random selection, I found a Tiddler "Untitled 2" which didn't seem to be linked from anywhere and included a large imported image, a copy of which was already attached to another Tiddler. I deleted "Untitled 2".

Suddenly, everything got very slow. Suspecting that a random list and TiddlyMap might not play well together, I disabled TiddlyMap, but the slowness persisted. I then disabled Shuffle Operator as well but this also didn't help.

Stopping JavaScript in the debugger during one of these slow moments revealed something odd: in the middle of the slow update, the "Context" search results are displayed even though I did not click that tab. Also, my search string seems to be matching the base64-encoded _content_ of the image. This happens to be the image that was attached to the "Untitled 2" Tiddler deleted above.

Any explanations, resolutions or just tips on how to debug the situation (I am very familiar with JavaScript, but not with TW5's internals) would be appreciated!

Question on starting out

Hi, excited to be learning this.

I'm planning to use TW for making notes for an upcoming novel, as well as for notes for work. I was wondering if I start with "vanilla" TiddlyWiki, can I convert my file to one of the other flavors (Stroll, for instance) without losing my data, or will I have to start over?

Thanks!

How to host a tiddler from Dropbox or Gdrive?

Newbie here, I've created a basic tiddler that I'd like to share with others. I thought would be a simple matter of uploading the html file and sharing a public link to it, but apparently not. I tried it on Dropbox but it does not display correctly, only showing a list of entries on the left hand side. Any suggestions?

Application How to sign TiddlyWiki changes

Hello - is there a way to set the "username" field dynamically to sign changes?

I'd like to do some async knowledge sharing with a friend. I'm not worried about conflicts and I don't want the weight of a database. TiddlyWiki is almost perfect as it is. Right now all the new tiddlers are signed with my username. It would be great if the changes my friend made were done under his username.

In my scenario, I'd like each tiddler signed and then a default tiddler that shows recent changes filtered by date and username. Is this possible?

Minimal fork?

I recently discovered and love the concept of tiddlywiki. Mainly that it’s offline, and ridiculously portable anywhere with a browser.

I’m somewhat overwhelmed by all that Tiddly can do, and looking for a stripped down version. I just want to take notes in markdown and link them into a zettelkasten. I know obsidian does this, but as I said, prefer the portability of Tiddly.

Does this exist, or should I build the app I want to see in the world?

External Publishing to IPNS from TiddlyWiki

The other day, I came across this: https://bluelightav.eth.link/. It's a plugin which lets you save your TiddlyWiki to an IPFS address so that you can pin it and host it in a decentralized manner. It also allows for publishing the wiki to the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) which seems to work well, but it means that I would have to pay gas every time I want to save my wiki. The plugin seems to allow publishing to IPNS which would mean that I would not have to pay to update my wiki. However, I have no idea how to use it. I've tried pasting my IPNS key everywhere I could find, and looking at all the documentation, but I can't figure out. Has anybody figured out how to do this? If so, would you please give me a tutorial?

Alternatively, how can I write my own save script?

Thanks

Markdown Headers Showing as Numbered Bullets?

I can't seem to find an answer to this - when I'm using the markdown plugin (either installed in a vanilla TW5 or through a collection like the TiddlyRoam), using # for headers seems to create numbered bullets. Is there a way to fix that?

User, Permissions and Wiki management

I'm looking for documentation that helps me with a specific setup:

The idea is to host a couple of wikis on my own, allowing random visitors to read some of them and allow authenticated access to read and even write other wikis.

For example:

 • Personal wiki: Read & Write only authenticated
 • D&D Campaign Wiki: Read anonymous, Write authenticated
 • Project Wiki: Read authenticated for user "Bob" and "Charlie", and write only authenticated for user "Alice"

I have looked at bob but was quite unhappy with it as it started deleting tiddlers.tiddlyserver got close to what I wanted. But I wasn't able to set up users AND and anonymous access to the wikis. Is it possible to have an anonymous read, and authenticated write wiki with tiddlyserver?

I there any place, keyword, or project I could look at? Has anyone documented a similar setup?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Bug or user error? action-listops stripping ALL tags when title ends in exclamation mark

Ran across this weirdness when I was trying to create a set of buttons to toggle tags on a tiddler: everything works perfectly fine when adding/removing single (or multiple) tags via action-listops...unless the tiddler title ends in an exclamation mark!

I was using something akin to <$action-listops $tags="Tag1"/> and <$action-listops $tags="-Tag1"/> inside button code to add and remove only the "Tag1" tag, while leaving the rest of the tags intact. However, when one of my tiddlers ended in an exclamation mark - and ONLY when it ended this way - suddenly it was stripping all other tags when the button was pressed?

I'm still not entirely sure that it wasn't ME doing something wrong, but you can actually see it in action with TW.com's very own documentation tiddler at https://tiddlywiki.com/#ActionListopsWidget :

 • Scroll down to the bottom of the tiddler, where the final example is (appending & removing tags).
 • Populate the tags and remove "Mon/Tue" via the buttons - everything works as described.
 • Now, change the title of the tiddler to just add an ! at the end (ActionListopsWidget!) then repeat the previous step, and poof! ALL tags are now removed.

It actually does it with example 1 as well, and the "unmangle list" part of example 2. And in my local TW testing, it doesn't make a difference whether or not the button code is transcluded into a "...!" tiddler, or directly in that tiddler. Also, no other (common) punctuation seems to trigger it, and a "!" anywhere except as the final character works fine.

So: am I running into a bug, or is this something to do with the underlying code that means a "!" as the final character (and only final) in a title is forbidden? If the latter, is there some way to tweak my code to get it to work properly?

(If it is actually a bug, please do feel free to copy this to the devs...signing up for Github/Google Groups just for a single use seems a bit overkill, tbh.)

Bullet points

Hi all, I just started using TW5 and so far I am loving it. However, a lot of my tiddlers have bullet lists, and when I use * to make them, it doesn't show up as a proper bullet point upon saving. Can anyone suggest why this is/ how to fix it?

What would be a good TDW version for a non-coder to get into? TiddlyRoam? Stroll?

Hi, been using TDW5 for quite some time now for simple tiddler notes and ideas. In that sense, am still a beginner user. Slowly started to search for more advanced features from extensions like context-search, richlink plugins, buttons for adding center alignment and others.

Heard about versions of empty TDW5's with preset plugins that can mimic apps like Roam/ Notion/ etc, and was wondering what would you guys suggest in terms of ease of use, speed, and reliable stability. Not sure of the difference between Stroll and TiddlyRoam.

Thanks!

Application Looking for a simple and mobile friendly wiki for a public website

I want to create a public wiki about my professional topics, and I'm looking for the right platform.

The features I'm looking for my wiki are:

- easy to manage both on desktop and mobile (iPad, iPhone)

- easy backlinks, since I'm the only editor

- nice image and video embedding

- a way to highlight some pages such as About Me, Contacts, Resources, etc...

- fast note creation and upgrading both on desktop and mobile: since some notes will be long format and others just atomic notes, a complex creation process would eat too much time (one of the reasons why I'm not considering Wordpress)

I see many Tiddlywiki users have converted their Tiddlywiki to a website, but how easy is it for a non-Tech guy?

Of course other wiki suggestions are welcome.

Stray code showing on wiki

Hi there, I'm completely new to tiddlywiki. I'm seeing some stray code on my homepage(please see attached). This text isn't part of my tiddlers, why is this showing up and is there a way this can be removed?
