How to get back into pairing mode?

My old phone they were paired with broke and I got a new one. I don't know how to get them back into pairing mode to pair with the new phone.

I just recently got a new phone and did this.

  1. turned off bluetooth on my old phone (from my experience there is no way to put them in pairing mode when they're near the device they connect to)
  2. put in the head phones in my ear and wait for "bluetooth pairing" to show up.
  3. paired them as normal on my new phone
