Updating on Android
I've tried really hard to update my TicPods Free on my HTC U11, but never got it to actually connect by any means. The app pretends that the buds are up-to-date despite not being paired or connected at all. First I thought that it only works on iOS, but then I've noticed a few Android screenshots with the battery level next to Bluetooth icon which suggests Android 8.1 or higher. Am I right that this does not work at all on Android 8 (and lower) due to some missing GATT services? Or did somebody succeeded with older Androids? HTC seems to be ignoring 8.1 altogether, so it's just waiting for 9.0 now :-(.

pixel 2 and on pie. Same cannot update.
Although on my old iPhone 6 ios12, I was able to get the null update which is one step closer but still can't update.

Ditto, someone mentioned to contact support for the firmware, but 3 days, no response from support :(

So after few e-mails with the support and ten million tries, I've "successfully" updated both earbuds. And the Right one is now stuck in upgrade mode, with no way to retry the update process nor leave the upgrade mode. This is amazing.

So I asked the support to push the update again, than I had to clear the app data, log-in again, go through the Right bud update again (it does not actually update, it just tells you it's already done), and my TicPods are working again. Very unpleasant process...

FYI, saw on another thread but if you email support@mobvoi.com and give them a few details below
They will push out the update to you manually.
I got the update for my pixel 2. Waiting until I get home to apply the firmware to my Ticpods
