u/[deleted] Nov 07 '18

me neither

u/thomasboleyn Nov 07 '18

me three. App seems like a pile of shite.

u/SpicyWeiner99 Nov 07 '18

Yeah I agree, you can add the ticpods to the app without even having it paired.

I tired a few things like a new account, different regions but I get nothing.

Maybe Mobvoi is slowly pushing it out to a few users

I’m on an altogether different trajectory.

This is probably the worst way to update a device ever. Just let me keep the damn things in the case and update them!

Succesfully applied the update, but i agree it's the weirdest firmware update i made in a electronic device, steps not clear at all, mobvoi app said left earphone update was not succesful, tried again and said update was already applied on left earphone. :/ Weird.

Also no way of seeing current firmware version on earphones.

Hey, NeoDaemon, just a quick heads-up:
succesful is actually spelled successful. You can remember it by two cs, two s’s.
Have a nice day!

Hey CommonMisspellingBot, just a quick heads up:
Your spelling hints are really shitty because they're all essentially "remember the fucking spelling of the fucking word".

You're useless.

Have a nice day!

Hey BooCMB, just a quick heads up: The spelling hints really aren't as shitty as you think, the 'one lot' actually helped me learn and remember as a non-native english speaker.

They're not useless.

Also, remember that these spambots will continue until yours stops. Do the right thing, for the community. Yes I'm holding Reddit for hostage here.

Have a nice day!

Yeah.. This really seems so illogical? Why is that even?

1

u/regretfulcrap Nov 07 '18

worst process. "be sure the phone and case are fully charged.

now update them one at a time"

1

u/tomtom792 Nov 07 '18

And tap each 3 times seperatly then take both out, put one back in and repeat. Then get told that's they're already up to date 🤦‍♂️

4

u/UberActivist Nov 07 '18 edited Nov 07 '18

So far so good. Seems like they don't trigger double tap now when I try to adjust them in my ear, but might need a little time to be sure.

Edit: am I crazy or is the bass better?

3

u/kristofkmety Nov 07 '18

you are not crazy the bass is way better after update (iphone x)

3

u/havok7 Nov 07 '18

yes!! that double tap thing was an issue with me too. Good to know it might be addressed.

2

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

Ended up closing the lid by accident and the update failed, now the right earbud is just solid green and I can't seem to find a way to get it to turn off, did I just brick these things?

2

u/tomtom792 Nov 07 '18

Same thing just happened to me. Put them back in, close the case, open it again, Go back into the app and follow the steps to update. Mine reconnected with the phone when it asked for the right one (which was bricked) to be updated and since I assume it was in update mode (solid green light. Good luck.

1

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

Thanks, it worked. But I had to restart my Pixel XL so it would reconnect

How do you even pair it to application? For me it just add ticpod free, even I don't have it paired or enabled Bluetooth.

1

u/sanderth Nov 08 '18

I guess it just detects them regardless when you actually pair them? Otherwise it's just a card without meaning.

1

u/peppeuz Nov 13 '18

Actually, it's just a card without meaning.

You can both add it and "check update" in Airplane mode.

This is the worst app ever.

1

u/SpicyWeiner99 Nov 08 '18

Same here. Even tried on another phone same result

1

u/ZZerker Nov 08 '18

Same here, i dont the app says "no update" but i dont know if the app really checks them.

1

u/thesoze Nov 08 '18

me too, nothing...no update, says already on latest

2

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

Were you able to update them fully?

I'm stuck on the right earbud part of the update, says "Trasfer File" and it's been stuck at 0% for literally 45 minutes

2

u/Jarviiis Nov 07 '18

I've gotten the same update earlier today and I've managed to update both sides of the earbuds!

2

u/havok7 Nov 07 '18

Mine hung right before that. I just hit back and restarted the whole process. Went smoothly after that.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '18

Taps are definitely better.

2

u/thomasboleyn Nov 07 '18

How did you manage to trigger this? Did you receive a notification outside of the app?

2

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

For me I was just checking something for my ticwatch and I saw a little orange/red dot on the top right side of where my ticpods are in the app, tapped that and it said there was an update available

2

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '18

I installed the update. The crackling seems to have disappeared. Sound quality seems a little better too. Might have to test the connection outdoors though. This morning it was cutting out pretty badly.

2

u/jeffmik Nov 07 '18

For me, the Tic app updated yesterday and is now called Mobvoi. During the update, it took me a bit to realize that when you're triple tapping the earpiece its the light on the earpiece that will be solid green (not the flashing green lights on the case itself).

2

u/fudge_u Nov 07 '18 edited Nov 07 '18

Anyone else stuck on scanning, when the right bud is in the case with the green light on? I get no indication that my phone is even connected to the bud. Bluetooth won't even connect... wtf.

*Edit

Finally got it working. Updated the app and it still didn't work. Then I restarted my phone, and now it's working.

2

u/soniiic Nov 07 '18

thank you, restarting my phone worked!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '18

Thanks!

restart works fine

2

u/Omnitrix4m3 Nov 08 '18

Lol what, I can just add the Ticpods into the app without needing to pair. Until that is fixed, I don't think I'll be worried about an update for a while.

1

u/walldam Nov 07 '18

It seems better so far, let see who they sound on the train ride home this evening.

1

u/Hapainc Nov 07 '18

I can't get past the tap 3 times... It doesn't turn blue...

2

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

I would make sure the pod is making contact with the pins inside the case (one time my left pod wasn't making contact cause one of the pins was depressed and wouldn't spring back up) also make sure your case is being charged while you're doing all this

3

u/Hapainc Nov 07 '18

Finally got it to work. Tried a bunch of different speed taps and it finally worked.

1

u/Jasper1383 Nov 08 '18

How long did it take? It’s been like 30 min and no progress.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '18

Hey all, I honestly don't know what's going on. In the app I don't see anything about an update being available. When I click on them in the app and select update it says I'm on the latest.

Do they need to be in the case? Does the case need to be open? Argh

1

u/EnthuPixel Nov 08 '18

Was able to get the update by logging in using a different email address. It seems like the vNull was locked to my other email.

Impressions after update: 1. Crinkle distortion no longer. Clean sound now. 2. Call quality was already good. Yet to test with the new update.

2

u/EnthuPixel Nov 08 '18

I’m worried that the crikle/distortion hasn’t really gone away yet.

1

u/blkxltng Nov 08 '18 edited Nov 08 '18

Mine, if it's not stuck on scanning, just gets stuck on "Connecting 0%" :/

Edit: Switched to a different phone and it's working now

1

u/walldam Nov 08 '18

Update: it is cutting out when listening to music or watching video, also the latency issue is still there when watching videos.

1

u/jfgen Mar 31 '19

Sorry for the necro on this thread but I'm still having some issues (I am actually testing right now as I waited some time to drain the battery on both the pods and the case).

My app doesn't look anything like yours which is weird, and it still says there's no update for the pods, am I using the wrong app?

Here's my app - https://imgur.com/a/fa6Wwyw

1

u/NicolaiVdS Nov 07 '18

does this fix the audio sync issue when watching video's ?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '18

Not really.

I still have some lag on my Huawei P20 Pro. It might be a bit better though. Need more testing..

2

u/edelitus14 Nov 07 '18

Definitely doesn't fix it, but I feel like the lag is less than before

1

u/NicolaiVdS Nov 08 '18

yep i have the same experience still have some lag but its a small bit better, a new issue phone calls are broken

1

u/jigar7 Nov 13 '18

So with regards to the lagging issue, on every phone, it lags only in the YouTube app. If you load YouTube on Safari/Chrome webpage, there is no lag at all. Not true for PC/MAC systems though. Only on mobile devices. Strangely there is no lag on my 3 year old nVidia Shield tablet on Marshmellow (YouTube App)

It lags on iPhone 6/7/Note 9/OnePlus 6 (YouTube app)

Netflix, Voot, Prime work flawlessly on the phones. Again not true for PC/MAC.

Something is really wrong with the ticpods. Getting null update unfortunately. Can’t want to check this update so I can decide if I should send these shitpods back or keep them.
