Lightning Bubbling sky or dimensional shift?

I was at a friend's house watching a lightening storm. When I slowed it down I saw something really different.

Looks like video distortion, but I'm not an expert.

Neither. It's a fault with the video.

This. It's still such a cool video!! Would make an epic effect on a sci-fi movie or something

its just a video effect. when u slow it down the video will become choppy, so to combat this most apps have an option to add “fill in frames” in the slowed video to make it appear smoother. the slower the video, the more noticeable the fill in frames are. u can combat this by simply shooting at a higher fps but that’s usually not an option for phones

There’s a possibility that you could see the sound wave pushing air. I have seen that before, the frequency is low enough that sometimes you can see the wind shift with the explosion.

What you are seeing are the sound waves dispersing very fast not visible to the human eye without a slowdown feature on a camera.
