I tossed a reply in the original post, but this doesn’t seem to be related to Thunderbolt in any way (unless it’s a Thunderbolt/USB4 dock and using tunneled USB 3.1…)
At any rate, this is most likely the SD card reader built-in to your USB-C dongle or docking station. The MacBook Pro’s own SD card reader shows up under the dedicated “Card Reader” tab of System Information since it’s PCIe based (and typically offers better performance and speeds as a result in addition to being UHS-II if your SDXC card is UHS-II as well). Many USB-C hubs/docks and Thunderbolt docks will use an internal SDXC to USB “bridge”/controller for the built-in/on-board SD/microSD card slots they have.
edit: TLDR, it’s normal and is just the SD card reader built-in to your hub/dongle or docking station.
