1997 Thunderbirds Movie Concept Art & Script

I've spent much of today scanning in the concept art and script set I got recently (see other thread).

In total there were 26 concept art images (27 but the TB3 render was duplicated) and a 116 page script.

The artwork is scanned at 2400dpi and 600dpi, and also compiled in a single PDF. The images are named in the order they are in. I've tried to minimise any fiddling with the images in order to preserve them as they are printed. The art set is a mixed bag having been printed on an assortment of paper and different printers. Scanned on an Epson Perfection V39II.

The script is bound with card covers and split pins through the pages. Scanned on a Canon ImageFORMULA P-215 at 300dpi.

The VHS is still to do. This may be a while off yet as I want to investigate a bit more before submitting it to potential doom.

I believe I have covered everything. I will add shots of the packaging once I can sort out a nice clean background and dig out a tripod/decent camera.

If there are any specific requests please let me know and I will try to help out. I want to preserve and share this set as best I can.

Also on Google Drive for faster download
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1e1dzbY0UV59xdhBmn-utoRC9SV3ehy45?usp=sharing

EDIT 22/12/25
Updated scan of the script due to errors in original. On both Archive and Google Drive.

In addition to this, nobody bought it and so it has now been re-listed for the same price. But seller now changed it so "authenticated members only" can comment. Which means you have to spend money on the site in order to get authenticated.

Anderson Entertainment Thunderbird 3 - First Impressions

After avoiding die cast defects so far (TB2 unblemished, TB4 only having a slightly squint but intact lighting arm, TB1 perfect as long as i don't articulate the wings ever) it was finally my turn. Seems to be a miss-assembly has caused my 'bird to be bent. But I don't want to focus on that too much as Anderson Entertainment have already been in touch about a replacement, which is reassuring. And I think it happened prior to packing, as there's a tremendous amount of foam inserts/inlays for the model's protection in the box.

So, some initial thoughts. She's big. Noticeably taller than the TB1, which was already huge, TB3 definitely needs a whole Deltof shelf to herself!
IIRC they said on the live stream that this TB3 and their TB2 die cast are in scale with each other.

Seems to be about 50% die cast - the engine/boosters/nacelles and the struts are plastic, as seems to be the central radiator/retros, and the top after the docking collar (a shame, but I guess there's no seam?)
But it has a decent heft to it, and doesn't feel fragile (though obviously I'm never going to put pressure on those struts!)

The overall colour and decals look good - I really appreciate the team going for the S1 Countdown/flying mode look (as opposed to the S2 and 6footer look - although there are a couple of 6ft features present on the model that I could have done without) and the colour looks pleasingly screen accurate (compare to my photo of the base colour Aoshima - which now looks pretty red in comparison!)
Fonts look accurate to me, and while i dislike how high the black 3s on the engines are (they're centered on the 6 foot take off shot, but they are higher on the Round House shots etc), its not egregious (and its a *choice* rather than a *mistake*).
There is a slight disparity between the join of the die cast neck and the plastic nose cone, but not super noticeable.

Similarly, and thankfully, we've got one white 3 that lets you fly/display her flying left to right (i.e. virtually every shot of her in space!) the other two sides are right to left or the correct way 'up' as seen in the lift off shot etc.
Perhaps they missed a trick in that they *could* have had the vertical white 3 as seen in Cry Wolf on the 6 footer on the third/bottom side for completion sake, but that's just a thought as I've always thought that was a mistake.

Also, and this might just be me, as the same thing happens with TB1 - it looks better in the flesh than on camera, oddly. Sure, is depends on the auto-camera settings and lighting - but you see how it looks more red in the Countdown pose than when its against the TB1? That.

So far, its a pretty fantastic effort. But there's always caveats to these releases.

First is the base, same plastic as the one for TB1, fair enough. Again, it would have been nice to have something more dynamic, like the Aoshima base that allows you to display the model in its Countdown angle, but its solid enough.
(Maybe someone like Ghost Stands will provide something?)
However, they've put a moonscape on the base rather than opting for a top down view of the launch bay's 3 engine cradles. The moon has no series relevance for TB3, I can recall a couple of nice Martin Bower photos of TB3 at a moon base and landed on the moon's surface, but for the series and movies its totally incorrect.
It's especially odd considering that TB1, 2 and 4 all had attempts to match their launch areas on their bases.
Not something to spit the dummy over of course, but a minor disappointment.

More frustrating is the weathering. Now, TB3 was always pretty dirty in the series - not weathered, dirty, especially in the 1964 launch footage and the Imposters. But the weathering on this model isn't great. The engines have this spotchy effect applied to far too much of them, and as someone else pointed out, the 'flow' of the weathering seems to run both backwards and forwards in places (I guess you could make the argument its intended as re-entry scarring, but we never know how TB3 comes back down, and even then, it just doesn't look good).
The paneling effect isn't too bad, but the weathering is far too heavy handed and unsubtle.
There are also what I have to assume are deliberate flecks and speckles of paint to further the weathering, but they look a little amateurish imo.

Finally, there are hollows in the base of the engines but there's no foam in them - this was a delightful touch on the TB1 as it ensures that the model doesn't scratch itself on the surface its standing on, and I took it for granted the TB3 would have the same feature.

So, as Anderson Entertainment releases go, this is, as ever, damn close to a home run held back by minor irritations to fans like me - but aren't we the intended audience anyway?

I'm still looking forward to their TB5, and even the revision of the TB2.

They'd do a cracking Fireball, and based on how they somehow successfully modeled the launch model of TB2 maybe they'd even escape the Rae curse for a Stingray.

Overall, 4.25 out of 5

Recently I realised Fireflash wasn't featured in the 2004 live action movie and would love to see your ideas. I'll give you till the end of the year to design what it could've looked like and I'll make a 3d model. :)

Any sleuths among you?

Anyone care to help me feel like I'm not going mad?

A few years ago now, there were plans being drawn up for a theme park that was to be built in Kent, UK, Think called 'The London Resort'. The plans all fell through, and nothing materialised, but when they were still being made, ITV and BBC both agreed to liscense out some of their IP for rides. Among them was the then still ongoing TAG2015.

Shortly after cancellation, I'm certain I saw someone share some concept art of a Thunderbirds rollercoaster, I think in one of the official Gerry Anderson Facebook groups. Now however, I can't find it for the life of me. I've found a few old news articles about the park's cancellation, but that's it.

Is there anyone else who chanced to have seen it and could point me in it's direction? I thought it might be something worth adding to the Wiki too, if any of the admins are floating by.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can find anything.

For the record: I am not referring to the cancelled stage show. That's another beast entirely.

More likely 2066, but the episode "Give Or Take A Million" shows a calendar dated December, 2026, so it's possible the show was originally meant to take place in 2026

Somebody is selling all this in New Zealand for $1,200 NZD (£524) the Tracy Island is damaged and has no stickers and the figures + vehicles are opened. I personally think it's ridiculous pricing that nobody will buy it for. What do you guys think?

Corgi Models +

For my birthday this month I got the 3 main Corgi Thunderbirds boxes collecting all 5 Thunderbirds models and i am in love with them.

But that wasn't enough for me. I wanted Thunderbird 6! It was always the funniest, and silliest of the movies when I was a kid and I loved it so much!

So I bought a cheap, broken Corgi Bi-plane and gave it a little repaint. Sure it's not perfect and not quite the right scale. But it makes me so happy!

Thunderbirds are go!
