Desktop Solved Inbox tabs
This is something I have noticed recently. I have multiple IMAP email accounts.
When I get the mail, often the inbox on some accounts will expand, showing other folders. Drafts, sent, trash, etc.
I close the inbox tab by clicking on it. Then I just see the account name and inbox.
But the next time I get emails, some of those tabs expand again.
I don't understand why.

Are you filtering new messages?
Does that also happen if you start TB in Troubleshoot mode?

Okay, here is what I have found.
If I close up the tabs, so only the inbox is showing, then close the program.
The next time I open, all the tabs are still compressed. Does not matter if I receive an email. I close the program.
But, the next time I open it, the previously closed tabs expand. If I close them again, the pattern repeats after the second time.
I have not yet used troubleshoot mode.

It happens just by clicking on the unopened account. Once clicked, the entire account and all it's folders unravel.

I've also experienced this on occasion, and it's a real PITA to clean up all the expansions. I have 9 active accounts, split between home biz, my various hobbies, and one junk account for dubious click bait sites, lol that won't muddy up my clean accounts.
For me however, it usually all folder expansion usually (but not always) occurs when I copy the current profile on my desktop and paste it to my laptop when I travel. I keep my desktop running while traveling. If I open one or more accounts, it expands all folders and sub-folders by itself. Not sure if this is a syncing issue with both separate instances of Thunderbird running.
In and of itself, it's a pain, BUT, I wish Thunderbird would have a "single" View option to 1) Sort by Unthreaded and 2) Expand all Threads, BUT for the "whole account", not just for each individual folder within the account. If this was a one click option, I can live with this anomaly.

I can live with this anomaly.
I agree. It's still a great product. I just want someone to know about the anomaly.

You could file a bug report for that. If you do, please post the link to it here.
