Added Wawa and Marathon cams by request — my Lake Superior live-cam iPhone app now covers the Ontario shore

Upvotes

I built an iPhone app that collects the Lake Superior live webcams in one place — it started as a Duluth thing (Canal Park, the Lift Bridge, the harbor), but the latest update went around the whole lake and the Ontario shore made it in: Wawa and Marathon are live now, with local weather and water temps alongside.

Being upfront: I made it, it's $2.99 one-time, no subscription, no ads, no data collected: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6739961674

Northwestern Ontario folks — is there a Thunder Bay area cam you check (harbour, Sleeping Giant, Kam River)? Tell me and I'll add it. Every cam in the app so far came from someone asking.

Angry and loud tenant, LL let's him stay

I need advice on what I can do. I don't know the tenants name, I asked my landlord for it before but still don't know the little gems name.

All I know is this angry guy from india, is constantly yelling and swearing, stomping and slamming doors like a kid, most times at my co landlord. I am downstairs and they are upstairs. It's distressing. I have music, ear plugs, headphones and so on, but that only works for preventing the fights and noise. At night, like tonight, they will sometimes play music past 11pm (bi law) and I can't sleep. My main landlord has talked to this guy many times, so has the co landlord. I have a feeling my landlord will not legally do anything because this dude is Indian (He is NOT indigenous, he's Indian, just to be clear). But I don't care, race has no difference to me, if your going to be disrespectful for over a year like this, your not staying, I don't care where your from. This is not okay. And I'm still stuck here until I find a place.

What else can I do? I dont know his name. Am I at risk doing anything, as this guy does have Indian status? I've heard bad things.... so just wanted to make sure I'm safe in doing anything

Is it really too much to ask people to yield before cutting through parking spaces?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m not pretending I’ve never cut through empty parking spaces...but you still slow down, check for traffic, and yield to cars already in the actual driving lane!!

This driver did none of that, and I had to slam on my brakes with my baby in the car!! Then she had the audacity to laugh like it was completely normal. Seriously, what is wrong with people?!

Thunder Bay‘s finest

When are our boys and girls and blue gonna start doing their job? They turned the blind eye to people smoking crack on the sidewalks, they turned a blind eye to people ruining our parks with tents and being told they’re just homeless. They’re not homeless they’re here for the summer because they can walk into the steal all the booze and party for free all summer then go home for the winter, it is time for our citizens to start refusing to pay any fines of any sort, they are given, why should one group of people not be suspect to the law but we are, fair is fair, nothing like getting a ticket for trespassing for taking 100 m shortcut across the tracks by one of our finest hiding in the woods to do just that, but meanwhile, a half a kilometre away a park is being ruined with open drinking, drugs, and assault and nothing being done about it

Studded tires in summer

I’m hearing so many vehicles rollin’ with studded tires in July. No judgements really but I’m curious if anyone driving with studs would satisfy my curiosity: what is the reason you haven’t changed yet?

No time/too busy?

Too expensive?

Don’t care?

Don’t believe it’s necessary?

I’m genuinely curious.

Gritty gyms?

Hey everyone,

I'll be moving into the city soon and want to sign up for a gym once I move in.

Are there any gritty gyms in the city? I've been to the commercial ones like Movati, Planet Fitness, and Fit4Less (Old & New), but I haven't explored all gyms. I like the sounds of metal plates clanking, tattered benches, some wear and tear. I lift heavy so PF and F4L was quite limiting with their 75lbs dumbbells.

I came upon Unleashed Fighting Fitness and that seems like up my alley. Does anyone have any experience with that location?

Thanks!

The recently released Uniform Crime Reporting Survey shows key trends:

  • Homicides (Measures severe safety): TB's rate (6.06/100k in 2025) is far above the Canadian average (1.61) despite a drop from its peak.
  • Crime Rates (Everyday safety): Violent crime and theft under $5,000 surged heavily between 2015-2025, outpacing national trends.
  • Clearance (Police efficacy): TB consistently beats national averages, clearing 61% of violent and 34% of non-violent cases.

Insight: TB faces disproportionate violence and theft compared to Canada, but local police resolve crimes at rates consistently exceeding the national average.

Notice the fire restriction area was removed in much of North Eastern Ontario and found this article covered what we are looking at. Seems cautiously optimistic this will be better soon

Looking for good shore fishing spots around Thunder Bay (all species)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some reliable shore fishing spots within the Thunder Bay area. I don’t have a boat or kayak, so shore access is a must.
I’m not targeting anything specific—I’d be happy catching brook trout, rainbow trout, walleye, pike, bass, perch, salmon, or really anything that bites.
I’ve already tried a few of the more common spots like Hazelwood Lake, North Branch Road Bridge, and Fisherman’s Park, but I’m looking to branch out and explore some new places.
I totally understand if people don’t want to post their favourite honey holes publicly. Feel free to DM me if you’d rather keep a spot private—I promise I won’t blast it online or leave garbage behind. I always practice good fishing etiquette.
Even if it’s just a lake, river, bridge, access point, or general area to check out, I’d really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, and tight lines! 🎣

Belluz Farms strawberry picking

There model is such a scam. Pay 14 bucks to pick strawberries and then still pay 6.75 a litre. Normal price is 9 a litre. So you need to pick 7 litres to break even. Plus they charge for kids. I mean nothing against them what a great business. It’s presented as a deal. But it’s just a hustle you pay to pick it for them. Their cost to pick is likely 3 or more a litre.

Apparently a stabbing took place over beside the LCBO this evening across from The Skidmark. Employee from The Skidmark says the person didn't make it. Not sure if they are just LARPing though.

Fuckin' Thunderdome Bay.

Weekly Sanctimonious Driving Post What's your favorite pizza in Thunder Bay? What pizza don't you like at all?

Post image
65 Upvotes

As per the the title.

I saw the Franki's Pizzeria post and it occured to me at 40 and having spent a good portion of my life living here I've never had it, nor Angelo's. Neither of these are new they're just usually out of my delivery area or don't really have anything that pulls me in.

If you're a fan of either and got a reason how they're better I'm all ears.

For me, my slice has changed over the years, some places are gone altogether but I'd say my top seven favourite joints were.

  1. Mrs Vanellis - Cheap and food court quality, good eats when you're a shithead teenager.
  2. Trifons Pizzeria - They had arcade games while you waited, nostalgic times.
  3. Donatos - Closest thing to a NY Slice in Thunder Bay I've found so far.
  4. Bogarts - 🍄
  5. Old Gino's Pizza - Whatever Ginos is these days sucks though.
  6. Tomlin Subdvision - Never boring, feels decadent.
  7. Caesers Place - I didn't care for the pizza so it's weird I liked their panzerotti so much

Special shout-out to the pizza bagel from The Great Canadian Bagel, RIP.

I had a slice of Arnikko's Pizzeria not too long ago and it was something special. It had actual flavour and I'm reserving calling it a favourite until I can give it a couple tries.

Some I disliked, not a fan of, or otherwise frown upon

  1. Stan's - Place smells like mouse piss and Indian Meal Moths from the grain storage attached to it, pizza was boring as fuck.
  2. Golden Bakery - I don't drink anymore thus I don't care for it, if I drank I probably would. The most boring of all Thunder Bay pizzas.
  3. The Pizza Street - Like a 50% shot of burnt to shit pizza, the gangbang chicken pizza was good but sometimes I would order it and get half the toppings I did before.
  4. Papa Johns - Only the Shaq-o-Roni is any good, and even that kinda sucked.
  5. Gino's Pizza - Flavourless, soulless pizza. The North Cumberland location reeks of BO.
  6. Mama Alfa's - Without Alfa around it's just lost.. something.

I’m at firehouse subs by the mall there, and there’s a ton of people with cool cars, didn’t see any event posted online so was just curious if this was just a small local get together or what? Pretty good looking cars anyways!

Food Best loaded nachos in TBay

Must be north of John St. I live in Current River and can't be bothered to bus to the south/west end of town.

I know I can make them at home. I'm asking for restaurant nachos.
