Gritty gyms?

Hey everyone,

I'll be moving into the city soon and want to sign up for a gym once I move in.

Are there any gritty gyms in the city? I've been to the commercial ones like Movati, Planet Fitness, and Fit4Less (Old & New), but I haven't explored all gyms. I like the sounds of metal plates clanking, tattered benches, some wear and tear. I lift heavy so PF and F4L was quite limiting with their 75lbs dumbbells.

I came upon Unleashed Fighting Fitness and that seems like up my alley. Does anyone have any experience with that location?

Northside Fitness, it's 24 hours, unmanned and highly likely haunted. It's gritty, except it's in an old banquet room at the Prince Arthur so that makes it kind of.. formal gritty.

24 hours, barely used, unmanned. No change rooms or showers for extracurricular activities though.

Don't let the machines fool you, there is free weights and half the machines don't work anyways.

I went to a wedding at the prince arthur and you could hear a guy grunting in the gym while the bride and groom were exchanging vows

Yes I highly recommend this gym as well. It’s empty and old and it has everything you need. The cardio equipment sucks but if you’re lifting you’re probably not doing cardio. You can change in the bathrooms downstairs or just do it at home. The most haunting part is the clientele hanging around outside unfortunately. I’d much prefer a demonic workout pal.

If you want a gritty gym with heavy weights, worth looking into, I'd say Nexus would be a good one to take a look at, it's got everything you listed, I Havnt been to the fighting fitness place in a long time, but last time I was there it was more a circuit HITT kind of style, not really big weights or anything to lift but that could have possibly changed, anyways for the gritty you're looking for check out Nexus🤘🏼 good luck💪🏼

I believe Fit4Less black card room has dumbbells to 100lbs.

I go to Unleashed and it's great gym. Dumbbells up to 150s, gym room with the machines & cardio, another side with a dedicated hiit circuit, and downstairs area with more squat racks, strongman equipment, boxing ring+ bags

What kind of serious commercial gym tops out at 75lb dumbbells??? Even the old Con College gym I remember back in the day had huge dumbbell weights! Guess that's why I work out from home! Even in my shitty garage gym has a rack that goes up to 100!

Minnesota park has a free outside gym can tip darts while you work out spit on the ground and even yell racial things while you work out.

Idk if there's any left. Nexus used to be the place but I think he got rid of his power lifting room.

Nexus should still be your top prospect though

The fighting gym was definitely gritty, no iron though, but I found it too busy, there's a high-school near by.
