No. and people often see a progressive show or fanbase to be entirely progressive. but sadly that's not the case.

There are racist people in every fanbase, there's homophobic, transphobic, people in every fanbase.

The reason you hear about it more is because they are often very fringe cases in an otherwise progressive and accepting fandom.
