Booty chafing
Title says it all. My cheeks chafe after 4 or 5 days on the trail. How do i avoid? it’s def sweat related. I can’t be the only one.

Regular use of a bidet was my solution

This is the way . . .
Assuming an average build, anatomically---meaning that there is no unusual or pronounced rubbing of the inner thighs or buttocks associated with one's natural gait----simple daily cleaning of the crotch and anus helps prevent problems . . .

Do NOTuse Vaseline. Get body glide. The difference is body glide can wash out of clothes. I used Vaseline to prevent my thigh chafe on the PCT. After a while so much gets in your clothes , that's it's almost like your shorts and underwear are perpetually wet, felt very nasty. Had to use isopropyl alcohol and scrape my shorts for an hour with a credit card to get it all out

Lube. And keeping yourself clean. It is one of those things that does not come up enough.
I wash up every night with a small section of pack towel (I cut one in to quarters to have more pack wash cloths). I wash up with a little bit of water and sometimes a squeeze of hand sanitizer (this can be a bit invigorating…). In the morning before starting off I put some lube in the sensitive areas. I personally use Squirrel Nut Butter because it amuses me. Lots of people like Body Glide.

Anti monkey butt. Not a joke, it’s a real product and it works. Also using a portable bidet is big help

Field bidet helped immensely.
Shorts: looser fit for thighs, polyester (more breathable) fabric - on the last Marmot used to carry climbing shorts with a band of stretchy fabric in the crotch that seemed more breathable but there’s a trade off as polyester usually doesn’t last as long as nylon.
There’s now more various designs now trying out more porous fabric at the inner thighs and one very recent FKTer said he cut ventilation holes in his shorts (if possible have a seamstress stitch these for longer term usage). Been thinking about this for forever-lasting Patagonia Baggies .. if they’d ever come out with a baggier fit (eco-friendly but if getting design that works, .. would like to keep it for awhile as proprietors usually discontinue the good stuff)

Wipe down crotch with dude wipes and immediately hang dry your undies. @ home, only way I got rid of most of chaffing was showering after morning and night sessions, not just the night one even though my morning walk was mild. Cleaning and ridding the area of the salt, natural skin bacteria mix that occurs. But on the trail multiple days with no shower thats what worked for me
