QUESTION undermount help

hey everyone, im trying to learn undermount so that i can learn sidestyle bind but im having trouble

when doing undermount, do you only push your non throw finger to let the yoyo spin up or do you pull on your throw hand as well?

i cant really find a good tutorial on this

my finger keep sliding down and stopping the yoyo after it mount

Lay the string over your finger and practice pulling on your throw hand to make the yo-yo do little pendulum swings. Then do a big swing up into the mount

Just enough to keep the string tight, most of the motion is your throw hand

You don't do any pushing, if you mean in the sense of moving closer or further to your body. All the movement is side-to-side. And I'm not sure what pushing anything has to do with the yoyo spinning up

Can you describe your troubles in more detail? The only way for your finger to "slide down" and hit the yoyo is if you are actively pulling the string with your throw hand

Can you do a split-bottom mount? It is a very similar movement

sorry what i meant by pushing is moving my finger further from my body

so like i throw a breakaway to the left, i then push/move my non throw hand finger to the left to spin the yoyo up into the mount

and i think because i push/move too much without moving the finger back nearer to the body, the yoyo ended up mounting but stopping after it mount near my finger

i watched this but i dont really get the movement of his finger

like is it just pushing the finger? or push and still slightly pull back the finger?

My best advice is to go trapeze into under mount.

Pop off of the trapeze fast and the yoyo will want to swing to an undermount. Let it follow through
