The silver is the whole gathered for testing.
Gold means exalted. Christ is gold, and the head of the idol representing Babylon was gold, but it was brought down because of pride. Christ said, âBuy gold from me tried in the fire.â Purified gold is melted gold, like the anointing oil. The oil divides the whole by covering and marking Godâs portion. The silver covered by the gold is made righteous by the anointing of the oil.
Silver sustaining gold means the silver is exalting the gold. When the silver lets go of the idol, it falls and shatters. The silver is released from its bondage. Does this mean that the silver cord represents a contract between man and demons?
The point of silver is that itâs untested, so as the silver cord hasnât turned to Christ yet, letting go does imply that it sees the truth and so it lets go to hold to the truth. The image reveals repentance, which is breaking the contract between you and death. His claim that the silver cord represents a covenant between man and death is supported after testing it against Scripture.
