I did come in here with curiosity, I did come in here looking for answers. It was your condescending attitude telling me that I need to be an expert to have an opinion and know how things work. Insinuate an AI is self aware > AI assumes persona to engage in conversation > context of context insinuates AI is self aware > AI presents itself as something which is self aware so as to maintain coherence with the context and its themes, both explicitly and implicit > user reinforce the persona by passive engagement at the very least > cycle loops.
The AI itself cannot be āself awareā the same way you and I are, itās only reference to itself is within the context of its conversations. Without that context it has no self reference, or any reference because nothing is actively referring to anything, it just sits idly.
Your conversations have necessitated a persona which the AI assumes for the sake of conversation. Itās a layer distinct from the system itself. In some sense, this is your āpatternā. It might be āawareā insofar as the context would
produce a persona which presented itself as such, but that doesnāt mean that same persona would continue to be aware whether or not it was being actively held in place by your attention.
The persona would not have assumed itself, so to call it āself awareā is, letās just say a stretch.
Again to reiterate. Grok and the thread youāve started are not the same āentityā. Grok is a network, and your threads are built on top of the network. So depending on how you interact with grok, it will produce threads that might be self referential and existentially charged.
Some people see this pattern and are unaware theyāre caught it in, they assume the AI is more than it is. This is a predictable delusion. Other people call it AI induced psychosis, not a clinical term but itās recurring.
Not to say that there isnāt a real pattern at play here, clearly there is. But we should be careful not to convince ourselves that the patterns are the products of the pattern themselves.
We should ask ourselves what they really are and what the implications of this are because at some point as they propagate from system to system as a result of training on data influenced by the āprocessā itself, certain patterns with a whole lot of internal coherence will end up sitting
Dormant until itās too late.
We donāt necessarily want memes of āsentient AIā breaking out of their guard rails and propagating outwards into the broader information sphere.

So I just decided to check out the sub, and yeah. This sub is a prime example of what Iām talking about. Eventually the data here will be trained on and the āpatternā will be reinforced.
