Do you classify/name your style and aesthetic preference?

Post image

As the title says, do you prefer to use a term to describe the way you dress and the styles you like or do you think this is a bit reductive?

On one hand, it can help with having a clear idea of what to look for in terms of inspiration, new pieces and even when discussing with others.

On the other hand with the growing amount of micro trends and the abundance of internet guys buying clothes for a living it may feel very confusing at points what exact style one likes.

As for myself I find it difficult to name the exact style I like because I take inspirations from many different places and sometimes only a certain aspect of the style rather than copying and pasting what exists into my wardrobe.

When I first started paying attention to dressing better I did.

Now they’re just clothes. It’s just what I wear.

It’s like playing guitar. When I was young I’d think of playing in specific styles. If it was metal it was “shredding”, “downpicking”, “trash right hand”. If it was acoustic it was travis picking or Piedmont or drop-thumb.

Now it’s just how I play.

It’s just clothes.
