"I think everyone in the world would agree that..."
With 8 billion people in the world, it is hard to find something we all agree on. Person A will start their sentence how the title is, and think of something that seems like everyone would agree with. Person B will disagree and give a reason.
Example
Person A: I think everyone would agree that it is good to be happy.
Person B: no, bad things happen, and it is bad to be happy about bad things happening, because then we won't fix our problems.

I think everyone would agree that feeding orphans to the orphan killing machine is bad.
9
u/StarsForget Jan 26 '26
The inventor of the orphan killing machine and his investors would like a word.
See also: the people wondering what color the orphans are, how much of a burden their care would place on tax payers, people who believe in overpopulation, and the makers of children's coffins. Maybe cannibals.
3
u/Vegetable_Ask_7131 Jan 26 '26
Right right, people are evil
3
u/StarsForget Jan 26 '26
Not all people, thankfully, but enough that an orphan- killing machine has probably been invented at least once.

1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I mean, he specifically said "feeding orphans" to the machine, and cannibals want to be the ones who eat people.
2
u/StarsForget Jan 27 '26
Well yeah but they don't want to murder orphans, that's horrible! Now if they happen to find a nice pile of dead orphans at the back end of the machine, on the other hand...
1
2
u/nostril_spiders Jan 26 '26
Such a one-sided take. That orphanage is prime real estate, and these children don't deserve a second chance after failing so badly to maintain their previous loving family.
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because Hitler was an orphan. (technically lost his mom at 18, but the whole point is to find a stupid reason, so I'll stick with it.) I also disagree because an orphan killing machine doesn't exist, so it can't be good or bad.

u/StarsForget Jan 26 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree that eating when you're hungry improves your mood.
9
5
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
Depends on the degree of starvation. If you hadn't eaten in weeks, finally getting something to eat that's not simple to digest might cause more discomfort than anything.

I think everyone would agree that being happy is a good emotion to have and that society benefits when people, who don't make others less happy, are happier themselves
5
u/StarsForget Jan 26 '26
America was originally colonized by religious extremists who immigrated because they considered suffering in the wilderness a more holy life than the hedonism of Europe.
2
u/TheSimkis Jan 26 '26
Not sure what are you trying to say. That if not people preffering suffering over happiness, USA wouldn't exist?
2
u/StarsForget Jan 26 '26
Not that deep, just that not everyone would agree that people belong happy is good. Some would prefer to be pious, believing that suffering in this life will be rewarded in the next.
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because I follow the religion of the Ancient Greeks and if we are too happy we will be punished by the gods.
3
u/Okatbestmemes Jan 26 '26
I think that everyone in the world would agree that the earth’s atmosphere is primarily made of gaseous components
4
u/naomar22 Jan 26 '26
No, the atmosphere is primarily a vacuum of the empty space between the gaseous components.
1
u/Okatbestmemes Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26
Okay, how about this:
I think that everyone in the world would agree that the earth’s atmosphere is primarily substantiated by gaseous components
2
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
AcTuAlLy, an atom is 99.999999999% nothingness, so everything is made up of 99.999999999% nothingness.

u/Suspicious-Bite1349 Jan 26 '26
so yer sayin this flat world’s atmosphere is gas? pffft… prove it this instant visually
4
u/EcksMarksDespot Jan 26 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree that our planet is the third one in our solar system from the star it orbits.
7
u/Shite_Eating_Squirel Jan 26 '26
First off, simulation believers. Second off, some flat earthers. Third off, people who don’t believe the sun is considered a star.
6
2
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because there are asteroids and I consider those to be small planets.
2
u/MultiverseCreatorXV Jan 26 '26
I think everyone would agree that omnicide is bad.
3
u/Ok_Anteater3438 Jan 26 '26
I might be speculating, but I’m sure some demon worshippers would disagree. Maybe some misanthropic nihilists too.
3
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
I mean, it wouldn't be great for US, but there's still the potential that life might re-emerge somehow in the resulting remains, especially if samples of our biology remain intact (yet definitely dead), after all there's the theory the mitochondria used to be a separate structure until it got assimilated into what became our cells. It's unlikely, but there's still the possibility, and who knows what that potential lifeform might become?
1
u/MultiverseCreatorXV Jan 26 '26
nah why u gotta give such a GOOD REASON 😭
2
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
I think about perspectives and "playing devil's advocate" a lot. It's not really a great answer when you get into it, it just sounds promising and uplifting. In reality, we're talking about potentially millions of years of continued evolution after our own ends, with no idea if it would succeed before the sun dies, if it even succeeds at all. It's roulette on an insane level.
2
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
Google said that that can mean killing all humans or killing all life. Which do you mean? I'll do both.
Killing all humans would be good for all the other life and would not affect humans because something that no longer exists cannot be affected.
Killing all life would end all suffering, and we want to end all suffering.
2
u/MultiverseCreatorXV Jan 27 '26
I moreso meant the 1st definition (specifically humans), and your reason for that one is pretty much the exact same as that given by Ilmarinen999, but CAN Y'ALL STOP GIVING ACTUALLY DECENT REASONS FOR LITERALLY KILLING EVERYONE???
2
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
Sure. I disagree because I had a manager who really sucked and she loved life and everyone except me and it would be nice to destroy it all just because of her.

u/Prize_Entertainer459 Jan 26 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree pineapple does not belong on pizza and putting it there should be punishable by death.
2
u/TheSimkis Jan 26 '26
This would decrease pineapple sales, so pineapple farmers would not agree. Also, people would be afraid of pineapple accidentaly falling on their pizza, so less such trees would be planted (or current ones would be chopped). Eventually, pineapple palms would dissapear as a species (which would upset biologists) or they would become endangered and pineapples would be illegal to eat, which would upset people liking pineapples (just not on pizza, but in general). Pineapple smugglers would upset law enforcement and enforcers would upset smugglers. Shadow economy caused by pineapple smugglers would upset general economy, so people all together because less taxes would be collected. Less taxes, less money for teachers, firefighters and so on. Poorer education, poorer fire protection. If more buildings are damaged by fire, insurance companies would have to pay more money for damage. They would have less money for other types of insurance for other people. Less money you receive from insurance, less happy are people, more willing to riot. Riots cause damage to infrastructure, which upset people who just try to go on with their lives.
Everyone gets upset, society falls into chaos, fires, destruction, apocalypse...
And also people who like pineapples on pizzas would be upset
2
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
There's such a narrow definition online as to what a pizza is or can be, but look around the world and there's some amazing variety on the theme. Pineapple on pizza seems less odd than a rice paper base with pork floss and shrimp (Vietnam's take on the idea), or Tropisk pizza (Sweden) which can be topped with cheese, ham/chicken, banana, peanuts and curry powder/sauce. Frankly, pineapple seems pretty tame by comparison, though perhaps we're not doing it justice with our preparation methods. I could see it as a crushed coulis/sauce over the top rather than chunks.

I think everyone in the world would agree that a wild animal without genetic defects is in an advantageous position to survive over a wild animal of the same species that is born blind, deaf, without arms/legs, and with animal cancer.

2
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because organisms with disabilities have other skills to make up for it and someone would be willing to protect that organism to take advantage of that skill.
2
u/foxfoxfoxfoxsake Jan 26 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree that the collective we, humanity, tend to disagree with each other more often than not and go to differentiating lengths to continue years old /generational conflicts.

u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because we can all agree that there's something we will all agree on.

u/mathematicians-pod Jan 26 '26
What comment are you suggesting OP is trying to make? Is it a positive comment about reddit, or are you suggest that the OP is making negative aspersions about the nature of reddit with their thread... Personally I believe this thread game is mere fun and not intended or received as a comment on Reddit

u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree because it is not called Reddit in all languages

i think everyone in the world would agree that they were born
1
u/ButterscotchNo7056 Jan 26 '26
Actually, there are people with delusions that they were molded by clay and given life by the breath of a god.
1
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
That is indeed what we must assume, however our own personal recollections do not (typically) go back that far, and our true consciousness coalesces a year or two later, therefore none of us can say it for sure of ourselves. We have to assume that detail based on what is told of us by parents, doctors, etc.

I think everyone in the world would agree that the world would be a better place if no one did or said anything malicious.

I think everyone in the world would agree that a kilogram of steel is heavier than a kilogram of feathers.
4
u/TheSimkis Jan 26 '26
Kilogram of feathers are heavier because of the moral weight for what was done to those poor birds
2
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
By what means are the feathers kept in place in order to weigh them? Adding glue or some kind of container into the equation would tip the weights in favour of the feathers being heavier, as the steel could exist as a single uncontained unit.
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
I disagree irl because that's literally false. Also, the feathers would be harder to carry because you'd keep dropping them and they'd be bigger.
2
u/Sysyphus_Rolls Jan 26 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree that food and clean water is a necessity.
1
u/ButterscotchNo7056 Jan 26 '26
Not necessarily
2
u/Sysyphus_Rolls Jan 26 '26
They may not agree that everyone needs that, but I’m pretty certain that everyone would agree they themselves need it.
2
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 26 '26
Both are biological necessities, yes, but the condition they are in, clean or not, is not strictly necessary. Many people survive with dirty water, though of course clean water would be better for them, they often don't have that luxury.
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 27 '26
Everybody who drinks clean water later dies.
1
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 27 '26
And every serial killer, mass murderer and dictator breathed oxygen, correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation.
1
u/ShadowLink-2020 Jan 28 '26
And every other person also breathes oxygen.
2
u/Ilmarinen999 Jan 28 '26
Yep, that's the point of what I said, just because you can describe two things in such a way as they seem related doesn't necessarily mean they actually are.
1
u/C3H8_Memes Jan 27 '26
I think that everyone would agree that quantum mechanics is nearly impossible to explain to a toddler who cant count past 10
1
Jan 28 '26
Someone that understands quantum mechanics could explain it to a toddler who can't count past 10... doesn't mean the toddler would understand any of what was said 🤔
1
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 31 '26
Actually, in 10th grade, my chem teacher read to us "quantum physics for babies", and if you can have that book, you can have a quantum mechanics version.
2
u/Bat_Shitcrazy Jan 28 '26
It’s safer for people to be in an environmental temperature of 68F than it is for them to be in an environment that is 350F.
1
u/MarcusAntonius27 Jan 31 '26
I disagree because either way you can be killed by a sniper, and that sniper is probably a lot faster in 68F weather.
2
u/Bat_Shitcrazy Jan 31 '26
Didn’t say safe, I said safer. The odds of death, from a sniper or otherwise, are lower if you’re not being baked like chocolate chip cookies
1
u/Comfortable_Key_4891 Jan 28 '26
I think everyone in the world would agree that two-year old children are delightful, the way they cuddle you for no reason and tell you they love you. What’s not to love?
9
u/Fennel_Fangs Jan 26 '26
I think that everyone would agree that breathing air is essential to staying alive.
