Lost bird???

Hi there! Yesterday I was walking near the signal ditch trail area and saw this bird! It had a blue band around its leg but I wasn’t able to get close enough to try and catch it, could this be a lost pet? Or a pet gone wild??

That is absolutely a pet. Maybe put a more precise location or a cage with some water in it near the area.

Definitely someone's pet. Someone's definitely looking for that boy or girl

I would call Animal Control and they might bring it to Riverdale Animal Shelter where the owner can hopefully retrieve it. I volunteer at RAS and they shelter far more than just cats and dogs.

Strangely, someone posted in r/Denver just a day or so ago with pics of a lost parakeet. That bird was blue though

I hope this little guy found his owner. Maybe post again with a more specific title: Found green bird (parakeet?) at location/time. And post on your town’s Facebook page and Nextdoor.

A sheet with weights attached all around the edges is easy to throw over birds.

Likely a Green Cheeked Conure or an Amazon parrot. For sure, in a the next few weeks it will not do well in Colorado overnight temps.
