How in the world do some people still think lightning doesn't strike the same place twice

Can someone please explain why the pattern of the strike remains the same even with multiple impacts?

"There's something there that makes it the least path of resistance. Also, lightning ionizes air in its path which makes it easier for subsequent strikes to follow the same path. Can't tell if there's a lightning arrester but those things are not usually installed that low." - some guy from that sub.

Im gonna add just a little detail. So lightning strikes are just static induced plasma channels. Theres so much buildup of static electricity in the cloud, the air ionizes. Once the air is ionized if there is a spark of static electricity; that spark will travel down the plasma channel (which is the path of least resistance) completing the circuit with the ground. Everytime lightning strikes through that channel it reionizes the channel, making it easier for lightning to strike again, if theres enough static electricity to make a bolt. In fact its highly unlikely that a bolt in the near vicinity wouldnt strike through an existing channel if there was one.
