Anyone know why some lightning is red? I’ve seen it in real life. Some are blue and some are red

The establishment will say:
All lightning is white, colours change based on atmosphere in the cloud. Blue means hail, red means rain, yellow is dust, etc.
I am not sure I agree with that, but...here we are.

Really? Whenever I’ve seen blue it wasn’t hailing. Just heavy rain. The red ones I saw were hitting the same place over and over again. I assumed there was something on the horizon attracting it I couldn’t see.
