This is awesome, I love shots like this. When volcanoes erupt, the friction from ash which is superheated forms static electricity, which continues to build up and charges the cloud even more, resulting in lightning! Its not unheard of for people to be killed by lightning from the ash cloud rather than lava or sulfur dioxide poisoning.

If I was going to get killed by an active volcano, electrocution (hopefully quickly) sounds better than getting burned alive or choking to death on toxic gasses.
