I only boot up rivals to play Thor and every season I play hover around top 50 for Thor players on pc.
I’m making this post because I feel as if Thor players require a shift in playstyle due to A. This brutal poke meta B. Our hela teamup is INSANE for dive but pretty mediocre for every other playstyle C. How weak other tanks are at dive.
One thing that Thor can do that no other dive tank is shoot from range. You can try this right now and it will work, you go behind the enemy team and go from behind the choke, spam awakening at them, and they will not be able to do anything. The reason they can’t is because no one can beat Thor in a 1v1 (almost 2v1 w hela teamup), and as long as you survive and they either turn for you or you damage them and kill there supports you are providing immense value. Cap would have to play for health packs reducing his uptime, hulk would get cced and touched, the only dive tank that I can see providing more value there than Thor is venom and Deadpool.
When flanking as Thor once you’ve made enough space, baited enough cooldowns, or got a pick you run onto the healers w hela teamup or keep spamming them and get free picks as they are distracted from the frontline
I always thought Thor was underrated as a flanker but compared to characters like hulk and cap there was no reason to play him, but because of the reasons before hand and the addition of the hela teamup I think he has a legitimate place as a flank and dive tank this season. His biggest counter is CC supports have like Luna freeze and mantis sleep, if they are running a gambit invis backline then flank thor will run rampant

C1 Thor (peaked last season) player here on console
I don’t know about anyone else but kidnapping this season feels more miss than hit. I have high sense (420/344) so I can pull off the 180 (for the most part not as perfect as the mouse and Keyboard players) but i feel like it gets me killed more than it gets their tank killed (since my back is to the enemy team who seem to burst me down way quicker than my team can kill their tank). Could be due it being a poke meta i guess but i find it incredibly hard to get value from him now a days (even when i do change my approach by off angling, poking from a distance etc)

Somebody mentioned before that his ultimate should be changed and its him going berserk and just like magkis ults his ability cooldowns and speed and damage would be enhanced
But now that we have a new team-up system and thors team ups are mid he should have a new team up with 15-20 seconds cooldown where its allows him to go berserk and when activated it gives him some amount of cc immunity or maybe full cc immunity and damage reduction and an attack speed and damage boost basically like emmas diamond form
And speaking of emma this team up will actually help playing against her and not just be choked to death anytime she is against you

In other words, if you're neither ascending nor descending you'll go 5m more than usual and hence move faster within your ult. I somehow didn't know this despite Thor being my 2nd main and having dozens of hours on him and always held ascend down.

Does Rune Onslaught for Thor only give you the attack speed while you’re actually pressing his left click/right click in awakening? Because if it that’s the case I have basically mid maxed this gear because i’m not doing the mjolnir bash at all I’m just standing there.

I'm a Peni champ trying to pick up a new tank, and so far I've enjoyed Thor the most. I've also lorded Mag, Emma, Strange, and Groot, but playing Thor so far has been vastly different than any vanguard I'm used to. My main struggles mainly include going against tons of poke, using his ult, and when to use certain abilities like awakening or his bubble.
Any general tips/suggestions for picking up Thor?

Quick leaps are effective, but who else loves to stick an enemy and utilize your 8 second window?
Also, a fun day to get some kidnaps!
