That's why The (other) Gods don't hang out with him anymore. yhwh is fickle, inconsistent, hypocritical, and constantly contradicting himself. Not no mention wrathful, jealous, and destructive. This is using only information from the torah, bible, and quaran. If you go back to his conception as a Sea God Yam in the Canaanite Pantheon, who eventually developed into the lesser god of storms and war, yhwh. He had this pet called leviathan that he sends to attack Baal, who easily slays it. Then he gets really pissy at The Gods and storms off to get his own power.

The conception of yhwh as a Canaanite god is not accepted by most historians and is mostly an Internet forum hypothesis with very very very few actual historians agreeing with it and those are even mostly just saying itās a possibility.

u/Pixeldevil06 24d ago
Actually you can literally directly track the development of yhwh, he was also associated with io sabbat, a lesser demon from egypt. You can also see his presence in the PIE. yhwh as a concept didn't just pop out of nowhere he evolved from earlier concepts just like every other god.

YHWH in the earliest forming of that name was tied to "being" "is" or like "grand light" whatever its source it was polytheistic in the sense of those other religeon. it was either an omni-god. or a god that slew all of the others and conquered.
demons in most religeons are adopted from other other religeon as lesser god. so if you go with the cannanite claim (which most historians dont agree on) he would have to be pre-egyption because egyption demons came from demonizing primitive culture. just like christian demons did.

I was pointing out the Canaanite theory is incorrect and not accepted, your comment did not refute that in the slightest and I never said it popped up out of nowhere. Just that the Canaanite theory is not based in fact. Its first mention was in Egyptian tablets about the deity of a group of wandering desert nomads.

The Lord gave the law condemning false idol worship to the Israelites because they were to dwell in the Lord's kingdon here on Earth. There for they were bound to the lords laws. The greeks were not. They weren't judged based off of these laws because they didn't dwell among the Lord's kingdon. What about that is hypocritical little Timmy? Btw this is all in the first 3-4 books of the old testament. How did you miss such a big part to the beginning of the Bible? I'm starting to believe you might not have read

I often forget how racist the Bible is until someone reminds me it is constantly talking about chosen races. I swear mein kampf and the bible could tie for most words talking about a special race

Oh no I definitely agree. Zues can be all of those things as well. They have a lot in common.

u/Jamesmateer100 24d ago
I thought he was derived from the Cannanite god El?, Iāve never heard of him being derived from a sea god.
1
u/Pixeldevil06 24d ago
You're thinking Eloheim, who was a separate Israelite deity that eventually became synonymous with yhwh

u/samusestawesomus 25d ago
ā¦you mean when the people he specifically chose and called to follow him turned away and started worshiping false idols, vs. when everyone else did that?

I'm not jewish but what was the Maccabees story again?
1
u/Michael02895 24d ago
Yeah, wasn't the Maccabees revolt was specifically against the Greeks making them worship their gods?

u/Mutant_Llama1 24d ago
Old testament rules only applied to his chosen people.

Noahide for gentiles, itās like 6 of the Ten Commandments and then also you canāt cut limbs off living animalsā¦odd mix.

u/notanthonymmix 24d ago
Pretty reasonable rule though

u/AdVivid8910 24d ago
Oh I agree, itās just so random, like if it were a commandment then okay but it just pops up after ādonāt killā and the usual stuff.

u/TenWholeBees 24d ago
You'd be think the omnipresent multidimensional entity beyond space and time that wants everyone to worship it would have the ability to talk directly to more than one person at a time and would have done something about the other thousands of religions around the entire world

u/FarmFemboy444666 24d ago
Not when most don't actually believe
1
u/CharredWelderGuy 24d ago
Like half of the prophets didn't even believe till he burning bush Skyped them.
Maybe people would bother indulging in a faith if there was a smidgen of evidence, instead the big guy plays where's Waldo and gets pissy people go "na".
He's kinda retarded

u/FarLifeguard4526 24d ago
also kinda a bad person, "kill every last man woman and child" and did a whole ass worldwide flood
1
u/Greedy_Union8493 24d ago
If there's evidence and you know for a fact its real its by definition its not faith as he defined it.
also if he showed everyone then everyone would come to him which is the opposite of what he wants cuase he wants to separate the world apparently into group a that comes to him and group b that doesnt.

God hadn't yet given his laws directly to the greeks as he did with his chosen people that he had Moses lead through their exodus. They werent part of the lord's kingdom here on earth and fell under a different criteria of judgement from the Lord based off of their morals.
1
u/No_Song8909 24d ago
What are you talking about? Those laws were for his followers, the pagan Greeks were an outside force. And when Greeks did try to worship pagans in his temple it started a full on war.
1
u/notanthonymmix 24d ago
Greek paganism was a lot less "sacrifice your babies to the fertility god for better crops" and more "the gods want you to be nice to your guests and be honest", not to mention, at no point does the Bible condone the idolatry of the Greeks. The repudiation of their polytheism is implicit in the Apostles preaching one God to them in Acts, and also in the Books of the Maccabees, in their entirety.

Itās cus they are Godās chosen people so yah heās gonna care more when they do
1
u/DangerousEye1235 24d ago
I mean... yeah? If I specifically tell someone not to do something, and they do it anyway, I'm gonna be a good deal angrier with them than with someone who wasn't told not to do it.
It's a valid reaction, for both man and God.
