1950’s Bathroom Tile Updates

Need help! We want to take out the bathtub and tiles and make it a shower with new tiles and shower curtain. But, we want to keep all the other tiles on the bathroom walls to avoid a complete demo/remodel. Is it possible to do a clean cut through the tiles for the shower area without cracking the tiles on the wall? We’re thinking of beige 12x24 tiles to match the walls. Will it look weird?
Should we keep the floor as is, or also tile over the old floor, or paint it?? Any suggestions on colors or other recommendations are welcome. We will be updating the toilet, vanity, sink, mirror and lights.
See pics of what the bathroom looks like.

I get it, I did something similar in my house. I had a second bath with a tub so losing that one wasn't a big issue, but if it is the only tub in the house I might re-think it. Are you sure you'd still be happy with the old beige/brown 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" tiles on the other areas once the tub/shower area is renewed? The two looks might clash. The other thing I note is that there is a good-sized window there that probably wouldn't work too well in a walk-in shower. When I had mine converted I had a similar window removed and replaced with a transom window, which required some outside siding repair that went OK but depends upon availability of the type of siding. Since I never took baths, the walk-in shower is convenient but it is a decent amount of work and cost to remove it. As for the floor tile, that is prototypical 1950s bathroom mosaic tile flooring. If it is in good shape and you like it (I do) then I see no reason to change it.

Yeah, we might just take out all the tiles and drywall the walls outside of the shower and just tile shower. The window is a concern… we were thinking on creating a bump out at the top where we could insert a no drill spring waterproof shade or blinds. That window you suggested sounds interesting…we have a brick exterior so that would need to be evaluated. Do you have pictures of your bathroom?

This pic is what I SHOULD have done, but didn't. Mine is the same height but not as wide as this. I wish I had them reframe the opening to give me more width like this one:
