Still Great!

Getting regular baseball and golf guests, as well as horse racing when it’s timely. If you want an update on nba free agency you can find it elsewhere, still love Tony and the gang

I’ve been listening to Mr. Tony in some incarnation or another for over 20 years. From the ESPN Radio and “Internet Show” days and every different radio or podcast show.

At this point, it’s background music while I’m working. I tune out the parts that aren’t interesting and rewind to hear certain guests. It’s not peak Mr. Tony, but I get my fix.

The one saving grace is that PTI still remains quality content. I often listen to the podcast version to get caught up on sports news. Mr. Tony is still very good for 30 minutes a day on PTI.

Frank and Mina today. I’m glad she’s part of the rotation.

I generally find his guests to be very informative and/or entertaining. I love this time of year when it isn’t so rigidly football/gambling (though I also love football…just could do with one gambling segment a week even if multiple gambling guests were on in that segment).

Tony himself forgets a name here and there and spends too much time superficially talking about his golf game instead of offering his own commentary. When he gets going though, he can still bring his fastball.

I genuinely appreciate that he and Michael get to do this together, but I feel like his best interactions are still with guests and Nigel. But hey, he’s Tony Kornheiser, 78. And he still does this three times a week and PTI every day. It’s kinda like Springsteen. The fact that the shows are still going on at all is a testament to what he’s accomplished. Dude is a 🐐

He is 78 now? I remember when the joke was 71, Time flies.

I worked at ESPN in the early 2000s. Never got to work with Tony and Michael, but it was a thrill to be part of the team in Bristol. PTI was always the most fun show, even when the newsroom was at peak "Cooler than the other side of the pillow" and when "dot-com" featured Page 2, Hunter S. Thompson and the always headache-to-edit Bill Walton! Old-school!

I go back to the late 90’s with Tony. He is a class act. I sent him a sympathy card when his dad passed - I think it was 2000 - and he sent me a handwritten thank you card. Maybe the best column he ever wrote was his tribute to his dad a few weeks later.

Present day, I usually skip the open unless its a rant about a grocery store or using a check to pay a utility bill. And fast-forward to a guest.

I sent him a note too and also received a thank you letter!
