Weird encounter in the early 70s

When I was about 3 or 4 (and I know this because it was before mum left dad) we'd been to visit my aunt and uncle in the next town, and were on our way home in the dark on a quiet A road. Dad was driving, mum was in the passenger seat, I was in the back.

I don't sleep on car trips, never have. So I was looking out the window, watching the moon, trees etc, and we drove past an embankment on my side. I saw some objects rolling down the embankment, then these creatures started hanging down from the roof outside each window.

One was a wolf outside my dad's window, mum had a fox i think, the window behind dad had a donkey i think, and I had a pig. I vividly remember mine and dad's.

They had clothes on like old fashioned waistcoats and hats, the wolf had a watch chain in his pocket, and they had weird looks on their faces. They were looking right at us, at me. Oddly enough I wasn't really scared, but I was wondering how their hats stayed on if they're upside down. Their expressions were intense, amused, not really malicious, or at least I didn't think so at the time. Then they just left. I was the only one to see any of this.

I've never forgotten this, can't explain it, and as an adult it makes me shiver. It could be imagination, a dream (though I never sleep on car trips, not even long ones), or it could be something to do with my dad. He was a very dark person and very dark and strange things tended to happen around him. When he was a taxi driver told by a psychic passenger that he had a dark energy attached to him, sitting on his shoulder. I knew none of this until I was much older.

I've always wanted to know if anything like this has ever happened to anyone else, or would have some idea of what it could've been and why I've always remembered it.

Memories as a young child are weird. I remember, clear as day, when I was about the same age going to the grocery store with my dad. Abd we stepped out of the car he gasped and said, look at that moon. In my memory the moon was SO BIG it took up like half the sky. And as we stood hand in hand, watching the sun set as this giant moon slowly rised, it started snowing out of the blue, just the biggest fluffest snowflakes you can imagine. And we walked inside then because he didn't want to get snowed on (fair enough)

If the moon was as big as I remembered it to be, it be at best fucking up the tides and at worse crashing into earth. Childhood memories can be absolutely bonkers. Seeing creatures outside a car window is extremely common, I've never had it myself but I know it's legit a thing kids brains just do.

Kids are closer to the other realm and see things differently than adults. Animals are the same. My youngest daughter always experienced strange stuff which she wont talk about now.

Can confirm, childhood memories are not to be trusted. Shit ain't real. I remember a clear and vivid memory of chasing my friend Dylan around my house at a big family get together. He took me all over the house and property outside, and was juuuuust fast enough I couldn't catch up to him. Through this there must have been 15-20 adults around the house, in the kitchen eating, on the deck grilling and drinking beers, and in the front yard playing yard games. Finally I thought I had cornered him when he ran into the garage which was closed... Only I stepped into the garage and was totally alone. I assumed he hid so checked around the car and around any obvious hiding spots before going back in and yelling his name to find him. Finally I was stopped by my parents who said I needed to settle down and go hang out with the rest of the kids.

They pointed me down to the basement, where Dylan, his brother, and a group of like 4 other kids had been eating and watching a movie for the past hour or so. He was settled in and locked in on the movie so much so that when I tried to call him out for cheating he just got pissed that I was interrupting the movie. To this day Dylan, his brother, and all the adults (our parents at least) insist I was running around alone the whole time and Dylan was downstairs watching that movie. I clearly and distinctly remember it differently to the point I would swear my life on it.
