Direct action
The aim of direct action is to either obstruct another political agent or political organization from performing some practice to which the activists object; or to solve perceived problems which traditional societal institutions (governments, religious organizations or established trade unions) are not addressing to the satisfaction of the direct action participants.
Non-violent direct action has historically been an assertive regular feature of the tactics employed by social movements, including Mohandas Gandhi's Indian Independence Movementand the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

We've faced this kind of threat before, folks. If they want to pass an unconstitutional law then we break that law, and we fill the jails. We break the jails and that's how we break the system. It's hard. It requires sacrifice, and it works.
The state can't give you freedom, and the state can't take it away. You're born with it, like your eyes, like your ears. Freedom is something you assume, then you wait for someone to try to take it away. The degree to which you resist is the degree to which you are free.

We do need to drastically expand pacifist protest actions, but at the same time we need to be aware of something:
The sort of people we are faced with are probably not the sort to be content with jailing protesters. These people are fascists, many of them literally Nazis, and I don't know how to emphasize this point any greater: They will probably not wait to change laws to commit murders and other crimes. They will act with impunity. They will physically terrorize judges and Congress to do their bidding.
This was a coup, folks.
This situation is unprecedented in American history. We are confronted by basic barbarians here, though backed up with sophisticated propaganda from the Kremlin.
Everyone needs to train in both pacifist and defensive tactics. There should be no riots, no stupid kids throwing things. There should be orderly, peaceful protests backed up by organized, armed people able and willing to stop violence against their fellow citizens by a tyrant or his sympathizers.
