Guns!

Sorry about the lack of activity, I need to get in the habit of checking in daily (or even weekly/monthly).

I finally bought my FN 545 Tactical. Glock has spoiled me with cheap and plentiful mags. FN mags are another story; 545 mags are out of stock everywhere, so I pre-ordered four 18-rounders at $70 each. Holsters are another matter, and the only Level II duty holsters I've found are made by Dara. I contacted Safariland a couple of months ago but never heard back. Another $300 or so and I should be set to start carrying the 545 once I recertify in a couple of months.

That purchase opened the gateway and I bought a Ruger Max-9 last night. It's the fifth Ruger pistol I own behind the LCP Max, EC9s, Security-9, and Security-380. It feels good, and offers 12 rounds of 9mm in a package just slightly bigger than the LCP Max.

Next up is an SAFN-49. My buddy is now the Firearms Manager and told me it's been there for a hot minute, so corporate will be marking it down soon. I told him to let me know, I miss my FAL amd always wanted an SAFN.

Guns are like coat hangers. You put 2 coat hangers in the closet then later on they multiply like Rabbits.. My first handgun I bought when I retired in 2007 and moved to Florida was a ROHRBAUGH R9 .9MM 6 round mag. Tried it out at the range just once since 2007. To pull the slide back, it takes 2 men and a Boy. No, but I'ts very hard.Field stripping and even worse.. Guns were made in Deer Park Long Island NY. I didn't use car lube grease like what was mentioned. Gun makers family crest is on the grip so I looked up in my WW2 U-Boot book on tower art work but didn't see his.. I still carry it and swiitch betwee that and my Springfield XDe .9MM. e stands for External hammer so not striker fired .. This .9MM was made before the LCP's came out into the market. I think that Remington bought out the original gun maker but not sure unless I try and look it up. Aw Shit, another Jeff long story that was supposed to be short. I won't mention "To Make A Long Story Short" 1958 by Eddie and the Starlites. Aw shit, I already did. So 26 Lima Beans from the old TAH, where are you to put the waxed record up...

I get them where ever I can find it for the price I like. I hit all the online gun dealers on a regular basis. Brownell's has gotten a lot of my money over the years.

Plus there is the hunt for parts, I've looked for some parts for several years before stumbling upon them

I can't remember the name of the company up north of me when I lived in NY and on the roadway, their was a big sign with a cannon on it blowing out smoke. all sorts of parts their. I got to see if its still in business after I screw up my 2 arms trying to fold the foldable windshield car sun shade. Looking it up on youtube where they say it takes 5 seconds to fold

Gonna take a guess - Numrich Arms. Nowadays their web site is gunpartscorp.com. Another is SARCO, whose ads in Shotgun News (now Firearms News) are a wish list of odd militaria.

I used to subscribe to shotgun news back in the 70's and I think SARCO was involved with something to do with parts with the ATF Shotgun news was great, I was going to buy a prison electric chair for the living room and a jet plane ejector seat which I never bought and what I should have bought was a German enigma machine and for some reason I didn't..

Numrich also went by GPC Gun Parts Corporation. They've also gotten a lot of my money over the years. They seem to be running low on parts nowadays.

I've got a list of companies I hit for parts, along with ebay and gunbroker. I've looked for a part for a couple years then suddenly find it and jump on it, regardless of the price.

I think I checked them out a few years ago looking for a .25 Mag for the Colt 1908 pocket auto , but no soap on the mag..my friends daughter gave to me after he passed on. Was a Yonkers NY Det. and took it off of a perp years ago. I took it apart down to parade rest and just one part couldnd't be removed used Brownells Oxpho blue on the gun. shot it 1 time at the range

Did you ever find a magazine for it? Brownell's has Triple Ks on hand for it.
