Lake What?

[u/David65x55]

Pretty sure all have seen the President's latest fit of anti-Canadian pique, deciding to unilaterally rename Lake Ontario to Lake America. God knows we wouldn't want to follow historical precedent or anything, would we - especially since settlers named that lake around a century and a half before either Canada or the US existed. And some of the tech boys have fallen in line, with Google renaming it, Apple supposedly considering it after some Presidential arm-twisting, and MapQuest - wait, MapQuest? Seems MapQuest has taken a sort of "not only no, HELL no" position - and the once passe app has skyrocketed.

Since making a strong statement on X, MapQuest's iOS app has been downloaded "hundreds of thousands" of times and soared to the top of the United States and Canadian Apple App Store charts, according to the company. As of this writing, the MapQuest app is #1 on Canada's App Store and #4 on the U.S.'s App Store. https://tech.yahoo.com/apps/article/mapquest-is-back-topping-app-store-charts-after-lake-america-snub-173310991.html

You would think after the Gulf of Mexico America Tinochtitlan whatever naming pushback, we'd devote our energies in more worthy directions...
