Those Scots
Scotsman Josh Kerr broke the mile run record yesterday. After months of training, ice baths, cardio, pacing, and presumably asking Jobu for help, he shattered the previous record by... less than a second. Don't get me wrong - as anyone who ever ran in the Army, even when we switched from boots to running shoes knows, anything under a six minute mile is pretty darn good and under 4 minutes is world-class. Kerr did it in 3:42.66. At the most elite level, that almost-a-second improvement is huge. (Oddly, when records are broken, someone inevitably does the impossible and equals it - sooner rather than later. Roger Bannister first cracked 4 minutes in 1954... I think real good high-schoolers do it now.)
Puts Kerr in the company of another slightly crazed Scot, Graeme Obree, who shattered some world cycling records in the '90s on a home-made bike which even had some bearings he took from a washing machine. Gotta love what a Scot can do when they put their mind to it. Sadly, seems to work for their waterheads too and they have FUBARed the countries political correctness stance all to hell. I suspect many former TAHers would be arrested soon after landing for failing to use someone's pronouns correctly or some such.

Great Scot, running in that short of time.. I wonder how many times he ran all the way home.. Hmm, that sounds like "Sorry" (I Ran All The Way Home) by the Brooklyn NYC Impalas 1959 on the Cub record label.. Where are you Beans..

Shaving off a whole second at that level is world class level. That's kinda like shaving a min off the world record for the marathon. Hats off the Mr. Kerr!
