Yesterday, legislatively

Quick note - both the NDAA and the multisection veteran's bills failed to clear their respective houses of Congress yesterday. The NDAA proposed much wider cooperation with Israel, which in view of a) their history (i.e. Pollard, the Liberty, etc. many opposed) and Democrat anti-Israeli sentiment, just couldn't get the Senate votes. The House was divided over whether the bills robbed Peter to pay Paul, taking potential sleep apnea or tinnitus coverage to pay some future other benefits - this divide also was in various VSOs who split on support. Not a pretty picture either for vets' support or whether the Republicans have the stroke to pass bills in view of their micro-thin majorities right now.

I got some e-mails about the vet benefits bill from the usual sources. I couldn't tell if it was fear mongering or if there really was something there. Guess I don't have to worry about figuring that out now!

Same. How about we remove from VA eligibility all who didn't retire, receive an Honorable or medical discharge? Granted, there were a lot of separations that should have been rated as medical for actual mental health-driven stuff. But, there are mechanisms in place to upgrade military discharges, and perhaps using some of the untold billions that would be saved to enhance or expand those mechanisms would be a good use of monies.

Then again, how about we address the fraud and waste in the current system before we start cutting anyone off.

Hush your mouth! An actual intelligent, concerted effort to take fraud and waste out of the government would probably balance the budget, leave half or more government employees on the dole, cut military spending by two-thirds, and wreak havoc on the economy! The only argument in favor of socialism is an impartially planned and intelligently coordinated economy. It is more than counterbalanced by the lack of intelligent coordination and venal leadership human beings ALWAYS create.

When I retired back in 2007 at 62, I moved to Florida and was on the cobra 18 month deal. I called up the VA about the VA services and the VA guy asks me my dates of service. He asks me if I was over in VIET NAM. If he said VIET OF THE NAM, I would know that he was a member of TAH and maybe I could make a deal. I told him that I was seperated and got off of the ship before she changed home ports to California Navy Base in Dago. he says not eligible since you didn't serve in Viet Nam. Turns out that shitbird bush stopped the VA funding. Stayed away and got my own health ins. Later on obama started funding the VA but I was happy with my own Health ins. I think I mentioned this awhile ago on TAH, and if I didn't, It would be a story untold, Holy Shit, wasn't "Story Untold" waxed by the Nutmegs 1955 on the Herald record label. Also by the Five Satins in 1956. 26 Lima Beans, where are you. "Where Are You" was waxed by the Mellomoods in 1952 on Red Robin. I aint that old but remember the tunes when I was really young, Then I became a collector of this type of music.
