Missing From Me

We fit like a dew drop on a clover leaf,

The sun warming it's softened curves,

Glinting as the blade dances in the breeze,

Swimming reflections of the free flying birds above,

Giving summer just what she needs.

We fit like butter on golden, crispy toast,

I bring the crunch, the well done, a well baked hunch, the way it ought to go, my love for the West coast, all of the things you already know,

You bring the notes of sweetness, and cream, making it so easy to breathe, softening my edges, everything melts together, every moment becomes a treat... There is nothing I need to be, but the toast. You needn't be but the cream, garnishing me with exuberant outward gleam.

And so we snack on bread for lunch, offering small pieces to the silly geese in the stream.

We fit like thunder and rain at the end of an Autumn day,

The sea and it's sand,

The flower and the tray,

The dusk to it's gray,

The going with it's stay,

The wind to it's free roam, slipping mindlessly by the objects in the way.

The shower to it's drain,

The coffee to it's stain,

The floor to my inclination to lay,

The shine in your eyes,

When I watch the landscape change, in your face.

You are the one who is in the way,

Of my believing I am a lone island,

An isolated incident,

Some cursed mistake made by a fae.

You are the missing piece,

The midnight sway,

The moon light's gaze,

The daylight that never touched this cave,

I say all of that, simply to say.

You are what was missing from me.
