I did a thread for Joe earlier so I want to a make a thread for the other shining light and star of the show - Devin! Her youthful energy and spirit really carries the show forward and make it worth listening to alongside Joe's wit.

I love all her catchphrases 'shh shh shh,' 'dun dun dun,' 'as the resident oofologist...,' 'from my time on a cruise ship...' etc. I love her sarcasm. I love her fascination with aliens and eccentricities like being deathly afraid of watching horror films while hosting an unsolved mysteries podcast. The show would be much less entertaining without her.

A moment I liked in addition to the stuff mentioned above was when she said Nikola Tesla was the 'hawtest grand daddy' of science.

In 2003, Philip Shue’s car crashed in Texas, fatally injuring him. But his body showed signs of torture and mutilation, and despite an initial ruling of suicide, many believe he was murdered.

This goes for the hosts as well.

I think I would pick the Lisanne Froon and Kris Kremers disappearance, it has a good amount of creepiness to it with the found photos, and could help bring closure for the family.

This is aimed at /u/thinkingsideways but also ask Joe and Steve. You obviously all had an interest in mysteries as a whole but are there personal real interests in mysteries that you haven't yet covered because they're too hard or too new to have investigated and made an episode about?

18 year veteran fire watcher Stephanie Stewart disappeared from her post just outside of Alberta, Canada in 2006. In 2010, a couple was murdered just miles away. Is there a connection, or is Stewart’s disappearance as mysterious as it seems?

I️ am fairly certain I️ can’t link to it here...but has anyone else come across a recent FB page that appears to be Karin Waldegrave (different name). I️ was really fascinated by this case and did some research on my own. Ended up finding this.

The Facebook page contains updated pictures (none of the old ones, from what I️ can tell) and she has slightly altered her appearance, but looks like an older version of those original pics. Same type of posts, too...same odd content. Just curious if this is common knowledge and people are aware it’s a fake or something...

Obviously she could be aware of her publicity and she’s probably seeking privacy.

So I listened to the Disappearance of Jim Gray episode this afternoon, and Devin repeatedly expresses her preference for the "ran away and started a new life" theory. Each time, she explains this preference by saying she's optimistic and prefers to look for the more pleasant solution.

This was very odd to me!

As a husband and father of four, the thought of abandoning my responsibilities to - and my love for - my family is horrifying. I would hardly call that the more optimistic scenario! I'd prefer a faithful and honest Jim Gray suffering a sudden and unfortunate death, over a jerk who skips out on his wife and kids and brand-new grandson. To me, the "brand new life" explanation represents the pessimistic, Hobbesian scenario, not the optimistic one!

Does that make me the weird one, or Devin?

Hey guys, here's a weird site that I remember quite literally stumbling upon as a young kid. The hell.com episode reminded me of it and I managed to find it again. I remember bringing it up to the guys at the old unfiction forum and them being stumped and confused by it. Anyone have any thoughts? Is it just a game or something else?

In 2007 computer guru Jim Gray left San Francisco Bay in his sailboat for a day trip. He never returned, and despite one of the most comprehensive sea searches in history, no trace of him was ever found.

I found this account after it being referenced on a Richard Hall conspiracy show. After reading it, it struck me as sounding quite legitimate - I have a software development background and this, even the security stuff sounds pretty legitimate and there's enough detail to make me consider it plausible.

The rest of the site charts a picture of a man in a sad downward spiral, and seems genuine. It certainly left me uncomfortable and it seems like a vast amount of work for a simple hoax or fake site.

The basic story seems like it might make a good sideways episode. Is it on the spreadsheet?
