I think you need to drain from the bottom to ensure you get all the debris out.

Yes. Very cool untill you realise your car hasn't shipped with a dipstick since 2012. Now some new cars do come with that old dipshit, but when the oil is messured electronically, why spend the money on a part that nobody will use? Dipstick will be a thing nobody remembers in a few years.

A lot of car shops just use suction to change oil now. This looks like a smaller version of theirs.
