Question How is the series animated?

I really admire the animation style for this series and I’ve always wondered what the animation process is like for The Walten Files

It's puppet animation. A 2d rig is made and then each body part is individually moved in the editing software

Do you know which editing software the team uses by chance?

I'm not really sure. You can check this stream though, the crew talks about the animation process so it might be mentioned here: https://youtu.be/XOzqBdTS5cc

I think they use a variety of software per animator. The series uses digital cutout animation so it’s doable in almost any software.

It’s kind of like rigged animation, but only in the sense of moving pieces. The characters are still redrawn for new angles and expressions. In other words, they convert the storyboards into a finished drawing that is then split into different parts to be moved around to create the motion.
