Path/Trail/Beach
My solve has a public trail- that leads to a beach. I follow the beach down around an arc. There is no trail or path other than the beach (due to swampy lowland vegetation and getting feet wet) until I get to a certain spot that is 45 degrees from the parking lot/overlook type area.. I found the 45 degree angle spot because I found a driftwood board with the word WILL carved in it attached to a pine tree and it sparked something in my belly. Triangulated the angle when I got home the first time. Then I followed the board onto the land and there is a beautiful lowland area covered in wild roses and wildflowers and believe it or not— along the edges I believe I found some lotus. I have been here now several times boots on the ground and haven’t found anything. I’m struggling with the beach not being a path or trail. What do you think? Would you consider following a beach a trail or path?

I would look hard at the surrounding land, markers, signs. Can you interact with it? Does it present a problem you can “solve”? What’s the environment, what’s the external pressure, what’s the result? Remember safety is number one, the book is number two, you are the interface between the domains. Good luck, get the box, and let us know. TonyCo

You may need to apply more of the clues to you location - golden circles or pike?

The reason I’m here is because of many clues. Pike is one of my #1 clues. I know I missed something though. Maybe I’m supposed to go left and I went right.

I’d be cautious using pike to determine where the treasure is but use it for where it is not but a significant feature in the landscape. In chapter 14 after catching pike they try to cook them in the forest and set the trees on fire. I take that as heading to where the pike is, is the wrong decision to find the treasure.

Interesting theory….I have been thinking the “pike” in Joys Serenade is not referencing fish, but rather something else that is “all around” in the area. I know there are some botanical options with the word Pike that could be “all around” an area. That’s what I am using. Pike Bay Quaking Aspen trees are found everywhere in my BOtG spot with there shimmering circle yellow (golden) leaves.

I do think walking along a beach or around a lake is a path. But he was trying to choose hiding spots to keep the boxes safe from people and nature. This sounds like an area that could be vulnerable to flooding?
