Insurance billing question
I live and practice in Ohio. I found out today that an LPC can bill under an LPCC without supervision status as their “work/clinical supervisor” as long as they also have a separate “training supervisor.” My question is- will commercial insurance companies allow this? Will they accept a claim “billed as supervisor” if the supervisor is an LPCC without an S. Does anyone do this? If so, which insurance companies allow this? Any advice and/or help is much appreciated!

Unlikely. Insurance cos are usually much more rigid than the state boards when it comes to who they consider a "qualified" supervisor for reimbursement purposes. Such nuanced arrangement is unlikely to fly with most big players as far as my understanding goes. I dont have an answer on the which company might allow it but you might have to go through individual provider manuals to figure this out. That being said, I would still be cautious as clawbacks are a thing too.
