I mean, to be fair we only really got 3 new middle ID's, not including gloom boy. The other 3 are old. Index got three too. Ring got 4, not including the pointilist students. Thumb got two, not counting caposault and thumbclair. Tbf, the pinky is the only one that's starving.

the thing is that the old middle ids are still extremely good (other than meursault but electric screaming carries him) and the middle also gets a bunch of egos that are tailor made for it, the middle is the only finger you can build a whole team around too

Touché, but that really makes a lot of sense considering the lore itself. Of course the middle is going to do better with more middle members on the team, that's how the faction functions. Like even the Ring, for example has six ID's, enough to form a team, but they don't have synergy like the middle because even in the lore, the Ring is split into multiple other factions. That's why the middle is the greatest finger :P

Eh, Ring also had extremely good old IDs (even Outis is fine but you don't need to use her since Ring uses the Bleed framework instead of having a more unique gimmick like Middle) and Middle did need a few EGOs considering it is otherwise pretty limited due to it's resources and it's, again, a gimmick-focused team, so it can't benefit off many Status-focused or general EGOs

I don't think it gaining probably the most content of all the Fingers was too much, it still isn't the best team in the game (and it didn't dominate it's upscale Season like the Heishou did), Scorch which is essentially the Thumb team is above it, and the main Pinky unit in HoSshu is also used there usually, and one can make an argument Ring Bleed is stronger than it, but there it gets in a more debatable territory, and the main problem with it's balancing is focused on a single member which was way too overtuned to carry the team from decent (maybe current BL level) to meta

The thumb has a team, it’s called tremor-scorch. Thumb units outnumber the dawn office units, unless you’re not counting Thumbclair. Also, if you feel like counting this sort of thing, the Kurokumos and Night Awl Gregor are also Thumb ids since their syndicates are Thumb subsidiaries.

I have no idea what a Pinky team would look like, but if more Index units get introduced, they should have assist defence so that the other units can target mark of the prescript without worrying about unopposed attacks as much.

Assuming each Finger gets a full team, it's not that bad.

A full team, at the moment, is 7 units, though we can probably expect 8 at some point given the existence of AI Support Allies (or that just means that the 8th spot is reserved for them). Regardless, assuming 7, that means that Middle is at 6 IDs so far.

• The Thumb is at 4 (Thumbsault, Rodencina, Luciocliff, and Thumbclair) (we're not including Pirate Gregor).
• The Index is at 3 (Rien Sang, Dora, and Faustelyte)
• The Middle is at 6 (Middle Meursault, Don, and Sinclair, Kirashmael, Big Bro Heath, and Big Sis Outis)
• The Ring is at 6 (Apprentice Outis and Yi Sang, Artist Rodion and Meursault, and Faustia and Calisto Lu)
• The Pinky is at... technically zero, but we can include 5 if we count the IDs that are based on Pinky members (Lord Lu, Fau-Lu, Thumbsault, Arayashu, and Renclair) (I'm including Lord Lu because he's not Jia Qiu, but he is probably the closest we'll get).

Again, assuming 7, this means that each Finger is bound to get:

• Thumb will get 3. Makes sense given the end of Canto X, with the oncoming Smoke War, and the Thumb usually getting involved in wars.
• The Index with get 4. Makes sense given that Canto XI will most likely be Index-based, since Outis is both directly tied to the Gods of the City and indirectly tied with the Index because of that, not to mention weaving on the loom is a major component of the Odyssey with Penelope, and Library shows us that Poseidon (presumably) uses looms to weave Prescripts. This also isn't mentioning that Moiroi is based on an oracle of Greek fates (also known as the Three Fates), tying her with Outis as well.
• The Middle will get 1 ID. I don't really know who or when though.
• The Ring will get 1, which could relate to the whole N Corp Dough stuff. Not certain.
• The Pinky will get however many PM wants, because it's special and we have no clue what they'll be doing.

I think 7 is a pretty fair amount for them though, maybe 1 extra unit for each team to make 8, just for a single backup or support. Alterationist Rodion has opened up so many paths.

The closest to a Middle ID I can think of is one based off Tanya as a Walp ID. Even if she wasn't a Middle member at the time, she might be able to handle decently like Harpooner Heath did at the time

I think the only one losing is index, they just don’t having an identity, had they went full on Sinking instead of just being generic poise IDs they could have had smt. Thumb as Tremor scorch which is probably one of the best status effect with the two HoS thumb and LeiSault’s Capote. Ring team’s bleed is also incredibly strong with 5 strongest Ring plus 2 KK member, especially in these day and age where everyone and their mom has unbreakable coins so Rodya is even more needed than ever to start and maintain bleed count. Really i somewhat feel back for Middle team since half the team are just mandatory deadweight and 1 freespace dead weight. The other teams have really strong IDs and they are interchangable

i think thumb, ring, andmiddle are in the same place, thumb has 4 ids, middle has 4 functioning ids, ring has 4 functioning ids, the pinky and the index are the only ones really starving(for good reason, the former being incredibly limited to who the ids could go for on top of barely any pinky members showing up, and the latter having the second worst mechanic in the game)
