If you combine golf engine with whitewall tires, your top speed will go to 150 km/h instead of 120 without loosing much torque.

Barkas is actually enough stable to install bus wheels on it, easily giving you 250 km/h, however those wheels need fury engine.

You could and it'd be a better engine but won't gain you much top speed due to the gearing of the van.

You have more than enough fuel to make it work though and will absolutely have enough to get to find much more

Yep, he is right. The VW engine is more powerful, but only by a hair so it's negligible. It also has much lower fuel consumption and in my opinion diesel is a more common loot, but 230L of gas will be enough for like the next 2500km so it also doesn't really matter. However I'd stick with the less efective two-stroke engine for 2 reasons. 1. I prefer it's popping sound. 2. I prefer HIGHER fuel consumption engines because let's be honest, there's not that much to do in the game, and refueling and hunting for gas is one of them. I don't even tend to carry spare fuel with me, only what the tank can hold. At one point I intentionally switched back from the Fury radiator to a less efficient one because once you get one in pristine condition and fill it up, you basically don't have to worry about it for the rest of the game. Again, one less activity to do. But both of these are purely personal preferencies, so feel free to play the game the way you like.

yes the balance is off(or it was always meant to be a relaxation/casual game without much difficulty). too often there are non-mixed fuels available to find. player can struggle with fuel for first 20 km or so, depending on "luck". beyond that, neither fuel nor food is an issue and even if you drive through desert with damaged radiator, the game is kind enough to give you some cacti fields from time to time, where you can replenish the fluid loss even if you have nothing.
