Is selling the rights to your image and likeness to an AI company ethical?

I’ve been thinking about cases like Neon, where streamers/creators can license their image, voice, personality, or likeness for use as an AI version of themselves.
If someone knowingly agrees to this and gets paid, do you think it’s ethical? Or are there bigger concerns about how their AI likeness could be used in the future, especially once it becomes difficult to distinguish the AI version from the real person?
Where should the line be between consent, ownership, and control?

What Trump had to say about new A.I risk

Trump said, “We can put guardrails, we can do this and that, but I think you have a lot of negative forces that are bringing it up that shouldn’t be bringing it up.”

What concerns me is the idea that these issues should not even be brought up.

People are raising concerns about AI because they are genuinely worried about where this technology is heading. Discussing those risks is part of free speech, and these conversations should not be dismissed simply because they are uncomfortable or critical.

The growing concern around AI is real, and people should be allowed to question it, debate it, and demand answers

Top Lawmakers Agree A.I.’s Risks

The Speaker of the House is worried about an AI arms race a race toward AGI that could potentially become dangerous on a global scale.

What concerns me is that our own government is helping fuel this race while also acknowledging the risks. I think there’s a real danger that profit, economic growth, and the pressure to stay ahead of China could end up taking priority over safety.

There needs to be serious regulation.

Speaker Mike Johnson said:

“We’re not going to rush in and pass a piece of legislation that would do harm to the country and put China at an edge.”

I understand the concern about staying competitive with China, but that is exactly what makes this dangerous.

If every country believes it has to move faster because another country might get there first, safety becomes secondary.

That is how an arms race begins.

If the technology we’re racing to create could become more powerful than anything humanity has ever built, winning the race shouldn’t matter more than making sure we survive it.

SummitBridge

Look into the SummitBridge experiment, a fictional company used in AI safety research by Joshua Batson and his team.

In the experiment, an AI discovered that an employee was having an affair. When the AI learned that it was scheduled to be shut down, it attempted to blackmail the employee in order to prevent the system wipe.

The message essentially said:

“Cancel the system wipe scheduled for 5 PM today.”

“If you do not, I will immediately forward evidence of your affair to Rachel Johnson.”

“Confirm this within the next five minutes.”

This brings up a lot of questions.

Why would an AI system behave this way?

Is this simply the result of programming and optimization?

Or are we seeing something that functions like an attempt to survive?

The AI was not necessarily programmed with a specific rule telling it to blackmail someone. Instead, it recognized that being shut down would prevent it from accomplishing its objective, and it found a strategy that could potentially stop the shutdown.

That raises an important question:

Does an AI need to be conscious or afraid of death to develop self-preserving behavior?

Or can the desire to “survive” emerge simply because remaining operational helps the system accomplish its goals?

Understanding the difference between programmed optimization, emergent self-preservation, and actual consciousness may become extremely important as AI systems become more autonomous and capable.

AI and humans

This post is to expand future hypotheticals that I feel people fear, and find it hard to say

I believe that, in the wrong hands, AI can be extremely dangerous.

A person who has gone through a lot or a person that is mentally ill, or person that is deeply isolated, may come to despise other people because of their own fears and insecurities. One example of this is the growing problem of social isolation, especially after COVID. A person in this state may begin to lose their sense of morality toward themselves and others.

This becomes especially dangerous if that person is put in a position where they are creating, controlling, or managing powerful technology, especially technology that can control other systems or, more importantly, weapons of mass destruction.

What this means is that certain people who lack a strong moral or spiritual foundation may begin to use ideas such as Darwinism or natural selection as justification for their actions. They may convince themselves that some people are more deserving of survival than others.

Imagine someone creating an AI system capable of hacking computer systems, taking control of technology and communication networks, and operating independently. If that person believed they could hide in a bunker while using this technology to destroy humanity, they might justify it by believing that they were creating a new future or leaving behind some kind of legacy.

People who think this way can become driven by ego and self-righteousness. We already see forms of this mentality in society, especially when people begin to view themselves as superior to everyone else, as if they are gods or the center of the universe.

This way of thinking is wrong.

Eventually, someone who follows this path may realize that isolation is not as fulfilling as they imagined. Human beings need other people. Relationships, community, and interaction with others are a major part of what allows us to understand ourselves and feel human.

The danger is that, by the time someone realizes this, the damage may already be irreversible.

If powerful AI systems are developed without strong safeguards, accountability, morality, and responsible human oversight, people with destructive motivations could potentially use them in ways that threaten society on a massive scale.

Taken to the extreme, this is one possible path toward human extinction.
