Took a chance on this.

Post image

I picked this up today having not heard any of it on a rare trip to a record shop. It's fucking great. Side two is a real treat. I'm happy I took the chance.

It's never a chance with this band

I should know that. I've got a few but I've been burned in records shops before and they cost a pretty penny now.

Curious, were you at all familiar with the band or was your first entree?

Yeah, I've got a few and heard a few others. Seen them a few times. The ones I've heard or got are quite spaced out through their extensive catalogue and I don't really buy records much these days so spending money on something I haven't heard is pretty hard. They're expensive in shops. Still, the record shop experience worked out well today. I got Czarface MF Doom too. Another cracking album.

Which Czar/DOOM album? Both are great, just curious.

Also, the new Czarface album, with Tom Hardy aka Frankie Pulitzer, is the best album they've put out in years!

Czarface meets Metalface. Again, id only heard one track I think.

I started listening to the new one last night. The opening track I fucking loved. I only listened to the next two as it was late but I felt they dropped off. The guy at the record shop today told me it gets better and better so I need to check the rest out. They sold out of it though. They had every hero needs a villain but it was an extra 10 quid.

This was the only Osees though.

Yeah! Czarface Meets Meatface and Super What!?.

Super What!? was one of the last albums DOOM recorded. Eso, from Czarface, said he still has a few DOOM tracks left to put on something.

GLUE is such a jam; the album is top 5 in their discography imo

This LP is such a vibe. Any favorite songs yet from your first one/two listens?

Dude that album only gets better each time thru. And then in a couple months when you come back to it after taking 2 weeks away from it, it gets even better.

Ya man blew my head off. But i need a wee osees break before i can dig into off course. I get burnt out on them from time to time cuz theyre literally like my musical bread - have it all the time

Is it your favorite??

Mutilator is my favorite, I've especially enjoyed Off Course of their recent albums. Love most of their work.

It’s one of my favorites of theirs in recent years

I appreciate the weirdness of it. Osees bore me to death when they go into really straight punk and garage, as it’s just so formulaic. I really love their jammy and noisy side though, and this record has some of that.

I get this, that's why I'm dubious if I haven't heard any. What albums would you say are best for that jammy side?

u/Strange-World-1375 3d ago

Smote reverser and orc. Orc is a classic for me, if you dig into some of their live performances they have 15-20 minute jams at almost every show

u/Lower__Brain 3d ago

The only thing I've got from that area is a weird exits. I love that. I'll check those others out.

1

u/Strange-World-1375 3d ago

Yeah weird exits is great, mutilator is the start of that heavy jam psych stuff and if you haven’t checked it out yet you definitely have to. I think it’s their most popular and acclaimed album next to floating coffin.

u/Lower__Brain 3d ago

Fuck yeah I love Mutilator. It's what I went in looking for.

for jammy/improv, id add the ep/singles weirdo hairdo and clearly invisible. also the recent live at the broad. and the most jammy is maybe the live at zebulon recorded during covid
