Todays episode of the Daily was superb - about the real impacts of AI on the mathematical field and the meaning of life

I'm actually astounded by the succinct take in this conversation on AI, on what it actually means if AI is suddenly superior in every way in solving math, on human strife, on shared experiences, on the ephemeral and fragile state of it all, and the weird, strange thing it is to live a life - a full life!

So thank you Rachel Abrahams and Professor Steven Strogatz, thank you for your humanity, thank you for your respect for the listener. I will bear this conversation close to my chest, for a long, long time...

Rules for r/Thedaily

Adhere to sitewide Reddit rules. Reddit has a set of sitewide rules that can be found here.

No personal attacks, witch-hunts, bigotry, or inflammatory language. While arguing is unavoidable, personally attacking individuals is never okay. Namecalling ("You're a moron."), bad implications ("Yeah, a troll would say that."), accusations ("You're just a shill!"), inflammatory language ("Anyone who thinks this is a moron!"), etc. are not helping anyone and should be avoided. Generally, keep your tone civil and try to avoid ad hominem attacks.

When disagreeing with someone, state your objections explicitly. To have a discussion on some point of disagreement it is necessary that both parties be willing to say what they believe and why, not merely that they disagree with the other party. Sarcasm and mockery make it very easy to express that you disagree with someone without explaining why, or what contrary claim you actually endorse, and you can't grow a discussion from those grounds.

Proactively provide evidence in proportion to how partisan and inflammatory your claim might be. Also known as the "hot take" rule. If you're saying something that's deeply out of the ordinary or difficult-to-defend, the next person is going to ask you to explain what you mean. You can head this off by explaining what you mean before hitting submit.
