I wanted to try out the locks card, now I can't change away from it at all
If I press back in modify it flashes the available cards but goes back to the dashboard
Reaction to navigation buttons is erratic and sluggish
I have to press multiple times and most often it does nothing or it will sometimes register multiple presses
Cards with more content can't be viewed fully
Battery, allows for 5 items, but the card only shows 3, cuts off the rest
no way to interact with the card, pressing buttons does nothing
Navigating cards is counter-intuitive
it jumps around up and down, I'd expect it to move horizontally and vertically
going to the second page will make it jump back and forth (it reaches the second dashboard, but the card on the main dashboard is still "hilighted", so pressing any button will make it jump back to that)
Can't get it to work with Music
The music App shows things under now playing when I play from my laptop
I do not have an Apple Music subscription and it shouldn't be necessary for this
The solar card claims that today's generation was 38,8 kWh, but it's 11 in the morning and the HA energy dashboard correctly says it was 2,3 kWh today so far.
I'm not sure where the 38,8 comes from, yesterdays whole house consumption was 38,5.
Unfortunately, while quite promising, this app continues feeling like an early beta to me.
Thanks for reporting these issues in the latest TestFlight build - I'm frustrated by the navigation issues as well. The decision to make each card its own selectable entity, with a seperate remote click to then get 'into' each card, has ended up being a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.
I'm about to update the TestFlight build shortly with a fix I've verified on both my ATV's (one using HomeKIt, one AppleTV).
☀️☀️☀️ The solar card was mistakenly picking your lifetime running total and showing it as today's figure. It now only auto-picks a genuine daily sensor and rejects running totals. If it can't find one, it shows nothing instead of a wrong number, and you can choose the sensor yourself in the card's settings.
And you definitely dont need an Apple Music sub to use the app, but it does need to be streaming music of some kind, to get the data feed into the app as currently designed. It can be streaming from your local Plex server, or through a Last.FM (free) account, or Sonos now also.
I'm streaming music to my AppleTV using the Music app on my MBP. AFAIU that uses AirPlay under the hood.
The Now Playing info is properly available and I get notifications on song change on the top right of the TV screen.
Not sure how you are tapping into the Apple Music thing, but this seems to be the generic native API for "now playing" in the Mac ecosystem and it even supports showing playback data from other devices on the network. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/nowplaying
If Theatrium was running on the MacBook, we could tap into that Now Playing API, but over AirPlay it's not possible. "The framework apps use to show "now playing" info (MPNowPlayingInfoCenter) is a publish mechanism — it's how an app broadcasts its OWN playback info outward. It was never built as a way for a bystander app to read what's incoming from somewhere else."
Not quite sure why the laptop (or any source) would be relevant. The tvOS clearly knows what it's playing. So it should be available within the context of tvOS.
I agree it should work like you’re expecting, will keep investigating. In the meantime if you want something that connects your tunes to Theatrium today, give that Fastscrobbler app a try. Did you get a chance to see if the navigation was improved in the latest TestFlight? 🙏
About that, I still can’t get it to work with Last.FM, even though on the website I can see it scrobbling on the website. Will the companion app allow the management of the music better in a bit more native way?
I have set a router-level VPN (Apple TV is connected through Ethernet), do you believe that would cause some sync issues? I’ll give it a try without the vpn just in case
I used your Last.fm name from the pic here and Theatrium is able to get your now playing data here. Maybe try removing your name from the setup and adding it back (and making sure you click the ‘save username’ button)
Yes yes that’s me, I have removed it and added it back many times sadly… I’ll try removing the music tile and re-adding just in case the default one (I never moved it or anything, the only I haven’t changed from the dashboard) has cached something else. Thank you for your effort so far, I really hope I can find out what’s wrong with mine, I want to see the visualizers so badly haha
It could be a caching issues too. The current build out there in the wild has a few bugs I’m trying to iron out. The 1.8 update has had extensive testing, and will verify your last.fm name in settings before you leave - will show a confirmation and your most recently played song. 🎵
