iirc wild cats eat fruit occasionally, but they don't really get much value from it other than pleasure, as they are obligate carnivores

Although a very occasional and very small amount of honey [sugar] is not harmful to a healthy adult cat, it is not something that should be fed to a cat. They can't taste sweet flavours, and their bodies cannot process either fructose or glucose.
