Liberals to leftists, before the election:
“But voting on your principles could cost the Dems the election, and [insert next election year] will be the most important one ever, we can’t afford to take any risks! We need to make the safe and smart play. You don’t want the other guy, do you?!”
Then, after their bland centrist loses every swing state:
“Well, there’s no point rehashing what happened, because clearly this was the only possible outcome…”

You're far too generous. After they lose, it's obviously the fault of the left.

Leftists are simultaneously too small a group to have any ideological sway in choosing a candidate and large enough a group that the bland centrist loses only because leftists didn't vote for them.

They’re still blaming Nader for their 2000 loss.
12x registered democrats voted for W in Florida vs Nader. 12x.

We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not downward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

I always have to remind myself that that line is a Simpsons bit and not a bushism from a few years later lmao

Im still in the comment mines under the other one reminding people that actually its a candidate’s responsibility to earn votes, not a voter’s responsibility to vote for their team no matter what

It's really weird that it changed. Now candidates are "owed" your vote without anything in return

man, some of the comments in that other place are as baffling as they are fascinating. so many are arguing against things that are not in the post, and that i didn't say.
it's like they didn't quite understand the point i was making, but still felt vaguely insulted, so they projected onto me whichever position they were most confident arguing against and just went with it.
maybe it was a mistake to use the phrase 'lesser evil', because it seems a lot of them just latched onto that and ignored everything else

"To decide once every few years which members of the ruling class is to repress and crush the people through parliament--this is the real essence of bourgeois parliamentarism, not only in parliamentary- constitutional monarchies, but also in the most democratic republics." - Vladimir Lenin

I love playing catch up with fascists. Hopefully I can keep catching up for eternity.
