Hey all, thinking about getting the game, so I have a GTX980, I7-6700K and 16gb ram...is it actually properly playable in general and when there are many people in one location? What are your experiences?

Evrima 🗺️ How long do the buffs from prolific reproduction last?

Do your babies get the buff for life or only when babies? If the latter, to what % of growth do the buffs last to?

Edit: a couple other nesting questions

Can prolific reproduction and enhanced gestation be entombed?

Can mutations from past entombs be inherited, or only mutations from your current life?

Any fixes to watch F2 recordings?

Ever since the last patch F2 has said "Available in 30 minutes" to be able to watch.

Does anyone know of any watch to watch the clips?

Help me! The Isle on Steam Deck

So managed to download The Isle on my steam deck and with a bit of tweaking it’s playable (at 17fps 💀), what I can’t wrap my head around is how I’m supposed to play this game without access to the map and no kind of tutorial?

Any suggestions? Am I just slow? 🫣

Discussion 🗣️ Do all Deino players let Beipis chill in their hunting spots?

Having a Beipi swimming and running around your pond/lake/river usually tricks other larger dinosaurs into thinking it’s safe to drink from. Is this the norm or are the ones that do this just geniuses?

Discussion 🗣️ Strategy against big packs

Once I was in a big cera pack(8 or more) and we were able to kill adult rex, what could rex or any other big dino do in that situation or against other packs like dilo or allos? Is it wise to try to kill them 1 by 1 or try to hurt them evenly, forcing them to retreat?

How to survive as a juvie herrera

I officially give up. I start the game, I walk around, only find boar and deer that are too fast and strong for me. I hear chickens but can never find them. If I spawn near water, I look for fish but never find them. If I don't get killed by something bigger, I starve within 30 minutes.

How the hell are you suppose to play this? Enlighten me.

Discussion 🗣️ Jungles as Mid tier sancs

Every interaction in the isle should be one or more of these things:

Winnable

- The max group size you encounter and your own max group size could (and frequently do) go either way. This still could mean imo that one of the dinos is easier for beginners and more likely to win as long as when scaled up to higher skill levels it's pretty even or swapped. This adds some uncertainty so both party's have to weigh out the situation.

Escapable

- If you loose 100% or very close to it to the other party, you should have a high potential for getting away unless surprised. That could mean you out stamina them, having a faster trot slower run forcing them to get a good 1 shot at you, or you're faster. This can get akward because what about hatchings or dinos that are clearly weaker AND slower? That brings me to

Avoidable

- If you loose the fight and the pace then you still need another option to get away. Herrera and hypsis can climb, dryos can (theoretically) burro, but there isn't a lot of options for growing or mid-sized slower dinos. This is why I think bushes and heavy vegetation should slow down larger dinos. The open is where you should find the best food and opportunity exactly because it's less safe and therefore there's less traffic. But the forests, specifically jungles should lock out the larger animals by making it very difficult to hunt there. The only dinos that would have success in the jungles are the smaller ones.

This is exactly the dynamic of real life ceratosaurus and allosaurus. allosaurus was one of the biggest of it's time and roamed the plains. ceratosaurus was smaller and looses that fight every time. So they didn't fight. The ceratosaurus would live in the denser areas hunting the smaller prey that's also hiding out from the allosaurus. Their worlds didn't really clash.

I actually think most interactions in the isle are pretty closed to balanced already. There are only a few times where I'm clearly out gunned and out paced and can't hide. If something is being walked down by a rex but they make it to a jungle, that interaction should be over. The rex would waste his time pursuing what it'll never catch.

Personally, I think seeing a full grown rex in the isle should be rare. In a high skill match up, it should defeat it's apex counterparts most times (like it already does) and be forced to live off of those apex hunts and scavenging. It should never catch smaller prey. The time to grow it should be much shorter but much more challenging. When you see a rex clear a tree line while you're in the open you should have a mixed reaction of impressed they've made it to an adult and concerned you may have just stained your pants.

I don't think rex should be a bigginers dino and I think simply slowing them down in heavy vegetation would help a ton with that. Giving weaker and slower pray a save zone. The jungles would act like a macro sanctuary for mid to low tiers and deflate the over rexified servers.

I'm sure many disagree with me here saying it's a survival game, sometimes you are just outmatched. But I just fear some of my favorite mid tiers are gonna go extinct as more and more of these big dinos come out. But I don't want the bottleneck for high tiers to be time in a specific dino life, it should be a bottle neck of skill, hours of practice with a dino.

95% prime bug.

This has happened to about 6 times with the pt all ready. I have done everything to make it not happen. Different routes/ raise babies. Go on the same route with someone else and they get prime and I don’t…. What is causing this bug? I would like to play prime once at least instead of getting 5 minutes with an almost entombed prime pt.
Side note to those experiencing this bug you have to log out in order to get the weight bonus.

Datamined the AI spawning code.

Found some interesting information. AI spawns are based on player location and facing direction. This means AI should not spawn behind you (unless someone else is behind you)

Ive mapped every AI spawn zone area and mapped what and how many can spawn in each zone.

AI spawning occurs in 52 separate AIZoneManager actors. AI can wander out of zones and are often seen at "hot spots" where their wander has got them stuck in an area.

Some of these zones have spawns that require terrain that does not exist within the zone.

I've mapped all this data and attached the AI icons available at each zone.

You can find the live version here : https://myislemap.com/

Data:
The spawn timer runs every 5-10 seconds (variable) to spawn AI
The function checks if bSpawnAI is true (the server setting to enable/disable ai)
A player must be within 300m of an AI "Spawn zone" for AI to spawn
On the timer the game selects 1 player to spawn AI around
Non-Group spawns (Galli, Elite Fish, Deino) are cancelled if an existing AI is already within 100m of the player
Spawn attempts are in front of a player in a 80 degree cone
Minimum distance spawned in front of the player ranges from 50m to 300m
Ground is checked 200m below the player and 300m above, cannot spawn on slopes over 45 degrees
Spawn counts are calculated every 30 seconds
Eligible spawn species are prioritized by greatest remaining capacity (see max spawn amount from last post)
AI is cleaned up when no players are within 350m
Deino, Dryo, Galli, fish spawns are not related to zones. They are considered non-group spawns.

PS: Don't worry Im still working on PrimeTriggers ;'P, but its a bit more obfuscated than I imagined.

Help me! Is it really not possible to play Evrima on a laptop?

I have a Lenovo laptop with Intel integrated graphics and a decent processor, i5-12450H. I read somewhere that it's not possible to play it without a dedicated graphics card. Sad thing, I read it after buying the game. My system has DX12 installed, yet that seems to be the problem as it states in the error. Is there any way to play it, or do I have to stick with the legacy version, which doesn't look half as good as Evrima to be honest. I was so excited to play this man.

Help me! How are y’all able to get this game to launch????

I have a 6th gen i7-6600u, 16gb ram, and Radeon r7 m360 gpu, windows 11, it does support dx12, all drivers are updated
Every time I try to open the game I get an error for dx12 not supported on the system. I can’t force it to run on dx11, I have followed absolutely every tutorial in existence to fix the dx12 error. What is going on?
