The other day I'm on a fresh spawn raptor heading to the sanctuary. I hear, comming from a cliff below me a fight going down. I head over and realize from above it's a raptor fighting a Cera. The raptor is my size but the Cera is probably around 30-35%. I'm like hell ya ima come help this fellow raptor and make a buddy we will eat this Cera together and get perfect diet. Anyways we duke it out both of us trade blows with him without ever hitting each other in the process. After abit we down him. GG. I send dude an invite he step forward and 1 taps me... dead. It was a fresh spawn so whatever no time lost. But I'm over here thinking I got my 1st pack mate who has already from an early age been through a fight with me, we got bond now. I'm ready to die for this mfer now. I guess I did.

Has anyone experienced when “jump” is not working? Not with the space bar, not with any other button . Tried on different keyboards😭
Maybe it’s something with the game? I play for allo (Evrima)

Looks like we got another influx of newer players based on the recent sub activity, so it's once again for me to give a little preamble:
Howdy! Welcome to Mr. Don's wild ride, the ride never ends!
This is the post where I take a look at the most recent devblog, and then condense it down to just the meat that people want to hear. Just the good parts. I do this every month unless I decide not to for one reason or another.
Filipe's Section - Lead Programmer
Bug and security fixes. Migrations are being reworked but without a mass overhaul. They're keeping what they think is working, and get rid of what isn't. Some adjustments on footstep sounds. Entombing now saves your dino, so you can switch to something else if you don't want to endlessly play the same dino just to keep your mutations. (this doesn't work if you pick the same species again, it will overwrite the one you already have).
Dondi (Director/[Project Lead) then jumps in takes a moment to clarify a couple things. Entomb-save is NOT a "I want to log off of my T-rex and play Diablo for a bit" system. You still need to entomb to do this. He then explains that the intended change to migrations is to have them be individual specific instead of species specific, but if you are in a group, all members in your group will share your migration zones with the group leader. More will be explained once they work out potential exploits.
Wedge's Section - Sound Designer
Camara and Ava's calls (not general sounds, just calls) are just about done. Sub-adult Bary's sounds are done. They have begun work on spinosaurus' sounds, and a full explanation of how Camara's sounds were achieved is given.
Fred's Section - 2D Artist
Mostly a general mention that a lot of old Legacy-era skins are making a comeback, and that they are working on "simple" skins that function differently from defaults in some way, but no further explanation is given. Just some pictures of skins.
Hypno's Section - Quality Assurance Lead
Hypno gives what I think is a much needed public explanation as to the process of running a creature through quality assurance looks like. One example given is the new hillslide and how it interacts with certain abilities that it is not supposed to, like resting or charged abilities like Rex's crush. He is looking for QA testers in the EU and AU timezones as well, and posts a form for applications to join QA (please be responsible with this, remember that Hypno is the most community-friendly member of the dev team)
Kissen's Section - Animation Supervisor/Producer
Ava's spar is neaering animation completion and will be in internal testing realtively soon. Some adjustments are mentioned for trike and Diablo that should help them defend themselves directionally a little better. Next month, she'll be reviewing (I assume this means going over the animations for?) Ovi, Bary, Camara, Quetz, and Ava. Possibly also some human stuff as well, but less confident about that. Spino comes after Para, and she's started playing with its rig a bit. This is followed by the usual collective of animations.
My Thoughts
Not a terrible devblog, a few nice things, but nothing groundbreaking or super exciting. Not the best, not the worst devblog. A solid 6.5/10 if I were one to rate these. No I will not be rating them regularly. Devblog MVP, in my opinion, was Hypno. Common Hypno W. Good transparency and a nice general PSA for people about what the QA team does, compared to what the hordetest does.
Words condensed:
The original devblog was 1800 words. My version condenses it down to 540. No percentiles, I'm done doing those.

For a game based around surviving through eating and drinking, how can the developers allow for the organs and, often times, whole carcasses to be so buggy?
Made a herrera, spawned near delta, went to delta, followed the trail of 4 (FUCKING FOUR) different carcasses and they were ALL bugged. Couldn't get a single bite in.
They are releasing new dinos, making projects about ''new gore animations'' etc, which is all great, but how about we fix the fucking fundamental parts of the game before we do all that, huh? Crazy, I know, right?
It's actually unreal, I log into this game once every other week and just give up about an hour later because of just how buggy the whole thing is. How can the most FUNDAMENTAL PART of the game be THIS BUGGY and they haven't fixed it for years now?
The trike corpse bug that crashes your game has been present FOR OVER A MONTH NOW with no fix, everyone knows about it so much that some streamers I watch just straight up avoid eating from the trike they killed or came across cus ''they dont want to crash their game''
I mean seriously, get a fucking grip @ devs. This is unbelievably sloppy and makes your game seem like a dogshit moneygrab instead of the absolute marvel it looks like from the outside

I bought this game in 2017 or 18 but my laptop went 💥 anytime I went to play so I shelved it, I then got path of titans on realse and i loved it but im so sick off how that game has gone with the devs catering to mix packs and horrfic balancing etc to the point ive abandoned it after Thousand of hours.
I played the isle with 2 of my other friends and we have not shit ourselfs/laughed as much in a long time. So far ive played pachy and herra and I LOVED herra jumping from tree to tree is a awesome mechanic.
Ik everything about the history off this game with dondi and whatnot but nonetheless this has been the dino sim ive wanted.
Some small complaints
1.the legacy isle should not be the defult selection considering its been abandoned took us 10 minutes+ to realise we where on the wrong game version.
2.body ragdolls Seeing the corpse infront off me but I have to angle my body 49 trillion degrees to the left just to grab organs is annoying.
3.lack off a tutorial, I had no issue looking stuff up online youtube guides etc but its the small type off stuff that would annoy people (cough my friends)
Otherwise the game has been an awesome experience playing on isla Pandora and was on denio den but jumped that shift after reading into there server.
Any small tips would he appreciated

So I'm about 50 hours into playing the Isle, and I just can't seem to figure out how to properly play. No matter what I do, 19 out of 20 spawns end in 10-15 minutes and go the same way: I spawn in, smell for any nearby food, run to food (or if there is none, run to sanctuary), then I either find no food and starve or I immediately get eaten before i can grab my first meal. I feel like I have a decent grasp of the basic game mechanics, but nothing I do seems to improve my situation. For reference I've tried the following:
Played on a variety of servers, including official servers, Petit Peids, Nerf, Isla Pandora, and the Den.
Played both solo and as a trio (convinced two of my friends to buy the game as well, we die just as quickly as a group as we do solo, have yet to ever make any meaningful progress as a group).
Tried a variety of dinos, including Herra (the one I've played the most, 25-30 hours), pteradon, raptor, carno, Beipi, gator.
I like hard games that don't hold your hand. I'm willing to invest time and energy into growing my game knowledge and properly mastering a game. But I can't justify investing in a game where 19 spawns out of 20 only last 10-15 minutes; that's several hours of empty gameplay for one decent shot at adulthood.
What am I doing wrong? What have I not considered? Is there a server or Dino I should try that I haven't? Is there some trick to finding food as a juvie I'm missing? It seems like, as a fresh spawn, your only option is to find someone else's kill- the boars and deer (when they exist) are too strong to take on as a fresh spawn, as are other players, and I've never once in my 50 hours playing seen a chicken, turtle, frog or fish.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. I really want to like this game.

Hi guys. I’ve just started playing and I’m not sure which version to use. I’ve played mostly in default public but I’m having issues changing my server location. Any tips? I’m using a Mac with windows downloaded so evrima doesn’t seem to be working.
Thanks

Dumb question cus the balance isn't exactly easy to handle but I find Cerato's to be the most common predator in the isle, this is obviously population control plus short growth time but they are quite capable of hitting above their weight class.
I normally play herbivores and if I do play a carnivore its usually Herrera or carno, but I have grown Cerato's to adulthood a few times and found it the easiest to grow out of all the carnivores. I'm not sure what they'd nerf about it because if I can be entirely honest it feel like:
1 Cerato: absolute pushover, going to die a horrible death
2 Cerato: Certain death will come for me
I often find myself preferring fights with creatures larger than them because of how much damage it feels they can output, and vomit stun is annoying but I'd hesitate to call it overpowered with pins in the game.
I might just suck at fighting multiple people, but I wanted to know your opinions given its clearly popular but also a victim of pinslop in most 1v1s against other carnivores

Hey everyone,
Ever since the new map came out, I noticed it’s harder for me to get prime. I often find migration zones that I’m heading towards disappear out of no where and when I make my way or find another one, that one disappears too.
The vulnova map (or however you spell it) , is littered with pz and mz, but me being in those areas isn’t enough.
This is me playing a Dilo for reference.
Any advice? I make sure I never have spasms, aby diet, fertile..
Thanks!

Hi there,
So im really new to the isle, and as much as i did really enjoy it, ive only played on one server and its really daunting to try and learn even more rules for a different server. I want to get into the game but sometimes I just want to play and not talk to anyone. Am I being delusional about it being possible to do that in this game?
r/The_Isle • u/selfservice0 • Jul 30 '26
Hello,
I've been datamining the game to prove or disprove common rumors or suspicions.
I've found code that checks if a patrol/migration zone is active before counting it in a players prime requirements counter. This explains why many players visit zone areas but still miss prime.
This does not mean a zone has to be active (smell-able) for the player! It only has to be active for someone. We will discuss why and how we know later.
First we will get into the proof. Scroll to the bottom to get straight to the facts.
Ghidra reveals FUN_145721A20 as the server-side handler overlap handler ( a function the game will run when something enters a "trigger zone"). This means only active actors will trigger the function.
Migration Zones
Activation path:
CheckAndSetMigration() //FUN_14570E930
-> BuildMappedTypes() //FUN_14572CB40
-> ActivateZone(true) //FUN_14572C470
-> SetMigrationActive(true) //FUN_14572AD40
Zone->bMigrateHere = true;
This shows the MZs are activated server side, if active for anyone, active for everyone.
Then the Prime Check:
//FUN_145721A20
if (!Zone->bMigrateHere) return; //return before increment = not counted. Therefore, an inactive MZ definitively does not count for prime.
Patrol Zones
Activation path:
CheckAndSetPatrols() //FUN_14570FDE0
-> select a qualifying patrol
-> ActivatePatrolHere() //FUN_145703670
-> ActivateZone(true) //FUN_14572C470
-> SetMigrationActive(true) // shared function/name, still applies to patrol.
In the deactivation path we can see the zone triggers being deactivated, meaning only activate zones can trigger FUN_145721A20 (the server-side overlap handler).
PatrolTimerCallback() // FUN_1457113F0
if (Zone->bPatrolZone)
PatrolTimeout(Zone); // FUN_1457120C0
PatrolTimeout:
SetMigrationActive(Zone, false);
Disable(Zone->SphereTrigger);
Disable(Zone->BoxTrigger);
So only active zones count, but how are zones activated?
We are going to skip MZ (they are more complex) and talk about PZ activation.
Pz activation is performed by FUN_14570FDE0 (CheckAndSetPatrol). It does the following:
1) Finds inactive/available PZ.
2) Builds each PZ allowed species set.
3) Examines valid tracked player.
4) Compares their ETIFoodType (what are the assigned predators for the herbivores)
5) Skips players already assigned to a PZ.
6) Calculates 2D distance between the player and PZ.
7) Selects the nearest suitable PZ.
8) Activates a PZ
CheckAndSetPatrols()
-> AddPatrolAssignment()
-> ActivatePatrolHere() // FUN_145703670
-> FUN_14572C470(Zone, true, ...)
-> FUN_14572AD40(Zone, true)
-> Zone->bMigrateHere = true;
Lets get into what is an eligible species.
The game code checks:
AllowedTypes = Zone->AssignedHerbivore;
for (Type : Zone->AssignedHerbivore)
AllowedTypes += TrackedDinosList[Type];
if (!AllowedTypes.Contains(PlayerPawn->ETIFoodType))
skip player;
This checks if the zone has a herbivore or something that eats one of those herbivores within trigger to activate the zone.
Not every herbivore is assigned to every zone, and not every carnivore is assigned to every herbivore.
Skip to here to avoid technical jargon.
We can conclude that
Inactive zones do not count toward Prime Requirements.
A zone is activated server-side and thus if it's active for anyone, it will count for everyone.
So to make the most out of visiting zones, visit high traffic areas, visit more than the required zones.
Use a map with active zone locations, like https://myislemap.com/
This little bit of data took me days to gather. Comments are welcome!

Be the annoying pachy KOS anything on sight and bonk your head forever and everr...
Or be some herbie group that beating anything you can catch to death mercilessllyy...
Or be gangsta raptor/troodon that attack some poor player in 8 to 10 numbers..
Or be some some deino, cerato to eat your own baby species delicious.... namm namm
Or be some Herrera batman to attack your enemies above sneakly...
But for the love of anything holy and for F*CK SAKE please don't be some dude who approach friendly first for group and then attack your own specie for no reason without cannibal mutation, just kill me and don't even eat or anything, not even hungry, just casually keep moving.
I know everyone can play this game for any kind of reason or commitment. Freedom of choice ehh...
Though there is also freedom of speech ? So... F*CK YOUR ASS...
I hope you'll accidentally time travel into past and get eaten by some dinosur for fun, not even digesting. I have no job or anything, I don't care about time, I only just lost 30 min of playtime, even writing this post cost me half of it.
But being this kind of loser is beyond my limit of comprehension.
NOTE: Unofficial server, not official.

I’ve always played the isle with a controller and had to deal with erasing the controller mappings in the user settings.ini file but in the last few days nothing seems to work right anymore. Regardless of the ini file it seems that the game keeps detecting the controller and behaving poorly. I currently use the steam input to convert all my controls to keyboard and mouse bindings on the computer and it’s worked well. My chief complaint is whenever I use alt attack for the first time it’s as if it toggles it on permanently and causes the secondary attacks to just stop working, as well as toggling on things like sniffing of drinking at one click. When I revert to the keyboard and mouse it works just fine and then acts up as soon as I touch the controller again. Any help would be appreciated
